Fashion Risktaker: The Oversized Coat Makes a BIG Showing at Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler

The New York Runway Shows took on an exaggerated tone when the continual flow of oversized coats became apparent. At first, I saw the look at Marc Jacobs and just thought, "Silly Marc...how UN-flattering is this look on a woman's figure!" Moments later, glancing at looks from 3.1 Phillip Lim, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler...I realized, a mini-trend is among us!

I must admit, I'm by no means crazy about this one. These women are stick-thin and the oversized coat STILL makes them look 'wide' and 'big.' Ewwww...who in their right mind wants that, except a clown. Honestly, I was struggling to explain the look to RunwayDaily Hub (he was also deeply engaged in some serious, futuristic sci-fi movie...so that might also be the problem). Men are visual creatures, so I just ran into his closet...threw his biggest blazer over my jeans and sweater and said, "Look, this is what is BIG on so many Runways!" (Pun intended) His facial expression said it all: "I'M...NOT...A...FAN!"

So, I'll leave this one up to you! If you're daring and bold...I recommend wearing the oversized coat under something super sexy and form-fitting. The juxtaposition of removing this large covering and then seeing something ravishing underneath might just do the trick...but for now, I'm earnestly staying on the other side of this BIG fence!
