Outfit Inspiration: Thanksgiving Day Ensembles à la Fall Foliage by Allen Turk

(Click for More Info and Where to BUY!)

Thanksgiving is such a special Holiday in my family. Every year, for over 22 years, the entire family would go up (from Florida) to North Carolina and stay in our mountain cabins,  having such a fun-filled week. Love, laughter, memories and 18 other cousins...some of my fondest memories are from Turkey Week.

Now that we've all grown older, North Carolina is only every other year. This year, being an off year, I've found myself in Portland, OR having turkey with my sister, her hubby, hubby's father and their gorgeous little girl Minnie (yes, of course, RD Hub and sweet puppy Zola, too). A small and relaxing 'off-year' for sure. Next year will be the big sha-bang in the Carolina Mountains but there's just something about this time of year that makes me very thankful for my entire family and dearest friends...and all my amazing readers!

I've put together an outfit inspiration post for you, today. Looks that include trendy and fun pieces and incorporate all my favorite fall hues. Thanksgiving is such a wonderful day to tells those nearest to you how thankful you are for them. It's a wonderful day to just delight in the changing leaves, falling leaves or lack of leaves...whatever it may be. Whatever you have in store today, enjoy it and be thankful...I am for you! Oh, and ps - If you just adore this photograph that I garnered my outfit inspiration from, you can purchase it HERE!

What to Buy Now: Holiday Sequins

Celebs in sequins

Love me some sequins, I do...I do! So sparkly, fun and sexy...what is there NOT to love? Well, I'll have you know that sequins are not RD Hubby's fave...but I still love to sport them, even the overtly flashy types. Do you love sequins too? Or, maybe you haven't given them a chance...as sequins might evoke visions of a seriously ugly past prom dress...totally understandable!

But, I'll have you know that there are some incredibly stylish new choices in the sequin department. They were all over the Fall 2008 Runway and really do just scream Holiday fun! So, what do you say, give sequins a go? Be...be-dazzling, dahling! Speedy-savvy-stylin' below to get your sequin juices flowing before the Holiday parties begin...sequins...pronto...enjoy!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Maroon - Real Women Sporting the Sexy Fall Hue

Maroon looks from fashion week

Isn't maroon just the best Fall color. But, I'm starting to realize that it's also quite prevalent during the later Holiday seasons, too (Christmas, New Years). I've recently sported a few maroon pieces and I've felt positively ladylike and pretty in them. Today, I stumbled upon Elle's website and saw some real-life women sporting their personal style during Fashion Week in NYC.

What was shocking to me was the number of maroon pieces in the bunch (above)...including some really creative ways to incorporate this lush hue. A quick way to add maroon to your look without purchasing a piece is a mani/pedi in the sexy shade. I think I'll excuse myself and get right on that. Plus, some speedy-savvy-stylin' below to get your marooning spirit going (Adam Levine NOT included!) Enjoy!

BOTB - Belle of the Ball: Best Dressed at the 2008 CMAs - Jennifer Nettles, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler and Julianne Hough

Best dressed at the cmas

You already KNOW I'm a country girl at heart, so there was no way I was going to miss the CMA's this year. I adore newcomer and true young talent Taylor Swift. She's awarded my Belle of the Ball this year because her ombre sequin gown took my breath away. Side-swept bangs, minimal accessories and perfect makeup rounded off the look and she looked like lady-like royalty for sure.

The other four contenders came in closely behind. My next fave has to be Jennifer Nettles...when she walked on stage I was ooooohing and aaaaaaahing, though RD Hubby wasn't really impressed with this choice of frock, garnering an "it's ok" from him. You know how there are just those dresses that are gorgeous and feminine and make you feel empowered. I'd feel that way in this dress...with its cutout sleeves and oversized sequins. It's this girl's dream, come true (in dress form!)

I love the bold color choices for Carrie Underwood and Julianne Hough (yes, the same Julianne from Dancing with the Stars). Both women, with their golden tans and blonde locks looked just ravishing for sure. I give golf claps to Hough because she took a chance with all those ruffles and I really love the result.

Lastly, Kellie Pickler looked smokin' in her glittery number. Talk about a body-con gown, my goodness. Kellie is looking great and really chose a gown that showed off all her lovely lady humps! Daring and a show-stopper, Pickler definitely created some added male attention in this number...enjoy!

Twinsies: Carmen Electra, Paris Hilton and Becki Newton in Same Green DvF Dress

Battle of the green dvf dress

I'm watching good ol' Ellen today and BAM, I glance up and there's Paris Hilton (pre-Nylon party photo above) in this exact green Diane von Furstenberg dress. She stopped me in my tracks (or shall I say, typing) because she looked THAT GOOD in it. I just had to know who made it, pronto!

A few minutes later, I'm glancing through my daily dose of People and I come across Carmen and Becki wearing, yep, you guessed it...the SAME dress! Wow, this is a color we've spoken about before (HERE). An electric shade of green that's definitely hard to miss. Which lady do you think worked the look best? I saw Paris in motion and like I said, it was gorgeous...but judging by these photos, I might have to go with Carmen. Regardless of winning...a fun seasonal cocktail dress option for sure. Don't roll your eyes...it'll be here before you know it! Enjoy!

Personal Style: Maggie Gyllenhaal in a Belted Fur Vest

We've chatted about belted fur before (HERE) and even provided some inexpensive, faux options for Fall/Winter too. Well, we're back to show you some great options for actually donning fur during these cooler months! Above, Maggie Gyllenhaal looks very chic in her belted/vested version. Below, a video from Ford Models featuring model and Chicago native, Emily. She shows three different options for layering in her fur vest by Express. It's only 1 1/2 minutes so def worth the watch. Enjoy and add some fur to your Fall/Winter rotation, pronto! Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Tuck that Scarf Into a Belt

Belted scarf - fall 2008

It's chilly outside today and I've got a scarf around my neck, even though I'm already inside. I'm a girl that owns probably 25 scarfs (much to RD Hubby's dismay - he has said that is WAY too many) and I wear them constantly. Obviously, I reside in San Francisco, so we CAN actually don them year round. But, it's scarf season in many other locales so I just had to post this incredibly chic new option to sport your scarf...tuck it into a belt.

So easy, so fresh, so chic. I know I mentioned all my favorite Fall 2008 Runway Scarfs HERE, but this go-round, I wanted to make SURE you got the hint...got it? This is something I'll be sporting in the next week, I can assure you of that! It's just a quick way to add some interest to an outfit and also, on windy days, nothing annoys me more than my wild and uncontrollable scarf. Tuck it it and voila, problem averted!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Bright and Funky Sneakers

Celebs wearing sneakers

I love sneakers. Obviously, so does this bevy of celeb beauties above. I don't own a million pairs but I still adore them. So functional, comfortable and recently, rather fashionable too! I've been known to cruise the city in a pair of Chuck Taylors and LOVE that my feet feel great after walking MILES! But lately, I've wanted a pair of bright and funky kicks, too...sporting them with my skinny jeans and muted Winter coat. Let the kicks get all the attention. As winter is approaching here in San Francisco, my sandals make their way to the back of the closet and out comes all my close-toed cuties.

Since moving from the Caribbean to California, all my heels have also seen so much less wear and mileage. I'm willing to invest some big bucks for a pair of killer sneaks...so I've set my sights high. I wear flats almost daily so I know they will be worth their price tag, if it's higher than expected! I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below for not only YOU this go round, but also for me! I'm ready to grab a pair and rock 'em in comfort, pronto...so I had to see what goodies were out there! I adore the pink/black Pumas and would honestly DIE to sport the studded Guccis. Decisions, decisions! Enjoy!

Fashion Faux Pas: Michelle Obama's Election Night Dress (Narcisco Rodriguez) - What She Should Have Worn!

Michelle Obama in Narcisco Rodriguez

Even RD Hub immediately said, "Oh, that is one ugly dress!" I don't think I'd ever go as far as to call any Narcisco Rodriguez ugly but I DO think there are a plethora of better choices for her slender frame on the market. So Michelle, really...the offer's on the table, pick me to style you, PLEASE!
