Accessory Trend: Layered/Messy Chunky Pearls at Luella Spring 2009

Luella - Layers of pearls - fall 2009

(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to BUY!)

For all those devout RunwayDaily readers tuning in on this glorious Saturday morning...don't click away,  this isn't just your average pearl posting. Yes, I love me some pearls (HERE and HERE) and mention them quite often...it's the southern belle coming out in me. Also, R.D. Hubby actually gave me two long luscious strands for one of my Valentine's Day gifts so, naturally, they're fresh on my mind!

Check out the looks from Luella's Spring show above. See the mismatched hues and even the messy knots and layers? What a fresh new approach to something you already have in your accessory collection (I hope). Take some brooches and pin the messy strands together/to your clothing for better stability  as we wouldn't want one of those layered strands hitting the pavement without your knowledge. My fave looks of all six (yes, I like to get this technical) is the upper right. I love the color contrast to her dress and purple kicks too. Lovin' it...tryin' it...enjoy!

Collection Covet: New York Fashion Week - Nanette Lepore

Nanette lepore - top 10

Ahhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhh! Very seldom do I stumble upon an entire Collection that I want to wear every...single...piece. Today was that day! Came across Nanette Lepore's Fall 2009 Collection and it stopped me dead in my tracks. I was browsing through some NY Shows to forecast the hottest new trends for you, my dear readers...and I just had to share my love of all things Lepore!

Though the designer hasn't faired perfectly with critics, I find the Collection extremely enticing, worldly and wearable (most importantly). With a palette rich in dark fuschia, MUSTARD yellow, rich purple and enticing teal...some of my fave hues were worn with one another in numerous new and inspiring ways. I love the leopard belt and grape-colored tweed jacket (above, middle bottom row).

Yes...a feast for the eyes for sure, I have even included ten more fabulous looks for you below. Just something to get your fashion-loving juices flowing. Still want some more? Check out the complete 27-piece Collection, HERE! Enjoy!

Fashion Flash: 81st Annual Academy Awards Re-Cap - Best Dressed, Honorable Mentions and Those Not So Memorable

Oscars Best Dressed and Worst

I love the OSCARS! And you know I have a stellar re-cap for my dear readers today. What a great show it was...I don't think I missed a second. R.D. family was at the mall and rushed home to start watching the arrivals hours before hand. I know, I'm obsessed. But like I told you HERE, I consider the Academy Awards coverage a 'working day.'

So, starting out on the top row I've shared my thoughts on the five leading Belles of the Ball (BOTB) last night. Left to right, Angelina Jolie (sidenote - I'm a married woman...I'm all about Team Aniston and man, was that awkward, when she presented on-stage only FEET in front of Angie...she was all class) took my breath away in her black Elie Saab ensemble. Her Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including those OVERSIZED 115-carat emerald earrings and that head-turning 65-carat emerald cocktail ring were the supreme additions to such a classic look...I loved them. Ferragamo heels and a Lana Marks clutch round out the show-stopping look.

Next up is the always stylish Anne Hathaway. Her glittering Armani Privé gown fit her like a glove and sort of reminded me of last years winner, Marion Cotillard's gown. Ok, back to Annie...with over $750,000 of Cartier jewels accenting the look, this lady was shimmering. A Casadei clutch and Roger Vivier heels complete her gorgeous ensemble.

Insert drumroll for my numero uno best dressed last night...Natalie Portman in her pleated Rodarte bubble-gum PINK goodness. As soon as the cameras panned to her I looked right at R.D. Hubby and said, 'That's IT! She's best dressed!' And in all honesty, I'd only seen half of the arrivals. I knew it right away...her hair, makeup, Kwiat diamond accessories and neutral clutch really let the dress do all the work. My gosh...I just adored it!

Rounding out the spectacular Top Five is Frieda Pinto and Taraji P. Henson. Frieda is one of the prettiest women I have ever seen (see Slumdog, I think you'll agree). Her deep blue John Galliano gown is extremely stylish with it's single laced sleeve and asymmetrical neckline. How about her gorgeous cocktail ring that she mentioned was 150 years old and from India. You know R.D. is a vintage lovin' freak...so golf claps for that. Jimmy Choo heels and a Judith Leiber clutch round out her look. Lastly, Taraji's ivory tiered Roberto Cavalli gown almost became our number one pick. R.D. Hubby really loved this gown and on camera the abstract layers were ones that I couldn't take my eyes off of. Her hair, makeup, Fred Leighton jewels and Mary Norton clutch complete her spectacular look.

I wanted to give a mention to five other attendees; Jessica Biel, Susan Downey (Robert Jr.'s wife), Penelope Cruz, Alicia Keys and Evan Rachel Wood who all donned looks that weren't too far behind my top 5. All lady-like and supremely styled, each woman really looked very confident in her chosen frock. The hair, makeup, jewels and accessories were spot-on too! Golf claps to you five ladies as well.

As for the bottom five...seriously, what were they thinking. Beyoncé is usually always so elegantly dressed but this was just wrong. SJP looked like a hot mess just busting out of her gown. Cotillard wowed me last year but was sub-par (bottom left) this year. I don't even have the words for Amanda Seyfriend...well, maybe just a NO! Lastly, Queen Latifah missed the mark too. So that's all I have for your Oscar coverage...leave a comment and let me know if your fashion thoughts were/weren't on the same page as ours! Enjoy!

BOTB - Belle of the Ball: Best Dressed at Independent Spirit Awards - Laura Dern, Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Monaghan and Cameron Diaz

Independent Spirit Awards - Best Dressed

I usually take Sunday off, but seeing as how today is the 81st Annual Academy Awards show...I'll be glued to the television anyway (for you) and decided to take yesterday off instead. But first, I wanted to make sure to highlight the Independent Spirit Awards (yesterday) and the best dressed attendees. I love the Indi Spirit Awards because I honestly feel like the ladies always step out in looks that are casual chic but also represent their ladies personal style. So, take a glance above and I'll tell you why I chose these top five!

Laura Dern (love her and her hubby) looks Rockstar chic in her leather bomber and black dress. I usually steer clear of black, but Dern's addition of key accessories, great hair and that bomber make the look such a laid-back 'do' in my book. Next up, Jessica Alba looks supremely lady-like in her PALE pink gown. Her NUDE HEELS are the perfect compliment to allow the dress to shine and the gorgeous mother just radiates beauty in this color.

My pick of the five was, hands down, Elizabeth Banks in bright ORANGE. The hair, the eye-catching shoes, the makeup and minimal accessories create an ensemble of perfection on Miss Banks...loves, loves it! Rounding out the top five is Michelle Monaghan and Cameron Diaz. Lovin' that BLUE color on Michelle but can't say I'm sold on her kicks. And Cameron nearly made numero uno out of the five because this dress is such a show-stopper and...I love some STRIPES. Golf claps for all five ladies...enjoy!

Fab Fall Fash: Heavy Metal Looks at New York Fashion Week

Heavy metal at new york fashion week fall 2009

I can't wait to jump on this bandwagon! Overflowing with rocker chic but also wanting to garner all the attention...heavy metal looks are the perfect addition to any fashionista's Fall wardrobe. There's no reason you can't invest early (meaning, NOW) and then layer when the weather turns cool again. Viewing all eight looks above, I can barely pick a favorite. They all shimmer and glimmer with innate power and I'd feel like a rockstar wearing each look. Take note, easy to emulate and purchase...be the first to sport some heavy metal, enjoy!

First Look: Cut Out Shoulders on the Fall 2009 New York Runways

Cut out shoulders

So sassy and daring, shoulder baring looks flooded the Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week catwalks. These aren't your average off the shoulder looks...these are cut-out/exposing on purpose. Sort of a slouchy/grungy look, but dare I say...I love it. I limited myself to only six looks above but had over a dozen to choose from. My fave from the collage are either the Miss Sixty or Hervé Léger looks (you know how I love my Hervé).

Already a hit/sure-fire trend, start taking notes now. Wanna get in on the action today? Check my speedy-savvy-stylin' below for some stunning looks. You could even layer a tank under one of your off the shoulder blouses for a similar effect. Enjoy and get ready for all my Fall 2009 Fashion Week coverage starting...n-o-w!

Stylish Snazzy Site: Shop SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) for an Original Valentine's Day Gift

Best of SCAD jewelry

Valentine's Day is almost here and this girl has had her shopping done for weeks. It's been leisurely and nice, indeed (insert pat on the back). I sent RD Hubby off to work today with a surprise card and little box of candy (Reeses, one of his favorites). I do think Valentine's is totally lame at times but don't get me wrong, this girl would CRY if my flowers, chocolate and nice dinner out on the town weren't had. So if you're scrambling for last minute gift ideas for your loved one, I'm here to help! Why not give them a print out/I.O.U/"I swear it's coming in the mail"...of a fabulous 'one of a kind' piece of art from SHOP SCAD.

Savannah College of Art and Design is, indeed, in Savannah, GA and is one of the nation's top design schools. A few of my friends have actually graduated from there and are some of the more creative individuals I know. I only glanced through the Baubles, Bracelets and Beads section to arrange a great collage for you, above.  But you better believe for future Outfit Inspiration posts, I'll be racing back to the Fine Art section of their shop to feature budding new artists. You know I'm all about supporting emerging designers...so this Valentine's Day opt to kill two birds with one stone. Wait, that was totally non-romantical at all...just, enjoy! PS - Stop rolling your eyes at my Yorkie Necklace because I'd totally rock that piece!

Wardrobe Essential: Celebrate the Rain in Plueys Rain-boots

Plueys

When everyone else is rushing to get Hunter's brand rain-boots (so last year, ha!)...I have something fresh and new to share with you. I recently got a pair of Plueys boots (above) and let me just share my newfound love! First of all, when it comes to rain-boots...this girl is all about comfort. I wore mine all day...let me reiterate, ALL DAY LONG! Shopping at the mall, grocery store, pet shop and then out to eat. My first wear was a ridiculously awesome because not even a slight blister was had. That's...amazing!

They are lined on the inside with contrasting colors for an added fun feature but I do believe it also added some extra padding! I just adore the little green tag on the back...kind of brings me back to my Keds wearing days. Glance below and see a few of the color options Plueys carries. Click HERE to check out more Puddle Stompers and you must promise to glance at the cutie Kids' Boots too!

I just can't say enough good things...in a time when all of California is celebrating some much needed rainfall, I couldn't help but notice that Plueys tag-line is,"Celebrate the Rain!" You can see that I do, just that, in my $60 Argyle Crush cuties above! Even when it's raining, you know this girl still has to be stylish...enjoy!

Fashion Flash: 51st Grammy Re-Cap - Best Dressed, Fave Moments and Hot Messes!

Grammys Re-cap

The Grammys never cease to amaze me! I love me an awesome combo of live music, witty banter and obviously some creative (and obnoxious) fashion choices. I plopped down on the couch (along with RD Hubby and Zola Belle) for a few hours of just this. Instead of choosing the usual BOTB (Belle of the Ball)...I decided that there were only THREE ladies that sparkled bright enough on the red carpet for me to even mention.

Featured above; Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland fame (winning best Country Performance by a Duo, woo woo) in a Rachel Roy mini-couture goodie that looks luscious on her. Next up, Katy Perry in a stunning PINK Basil Soda gown. And lastly, our girl, Taylor Swift in her grecian-inspired Kaufman Franco looked just breathtaking! Golf claps to all...you got an ooooh and aaaaah from R.D.

My Fave Moments were Katy Perry singing on stage in this sparkly ensemble (naturally) but what you don't see is that her legs look flawless even when she was wearing a pair of green sparkly flats. We all know how heels elongate your legs, so to see her doin' her thang on stage in flats and looking very svelte...kudos, lady love!

Tears were flowing when Jennifer Hudson took to the stage after such a horrible last year. But her dress, BIG EARRINGS and perfectly polished 'do took my breath away on so many levels. Lastly, M.I.A. brought the house down as she and her baby bump (her due date falling on the same day as the taping) moved and grooved her adorable self all over the stage. It was beyond impressive!

The three that I've labeled some serious HOT MESS(es) don't even deserve an explanation. Seriously...what were they thinking? Enjoy and hope you tuned in too!

How to Wear It: Chic Street Style via Elle w/ Plain White T's Counting 1,2,3,4

Elle street style

Valentine's Day is upon us with the quickness. I've already gotten a few goodies for RD Hubby but I'd also love to get our sweet Zola Belle a lil' something too (oh hush, she's our hairy baby before we have real kiddos). Getting in my VH1 Top 20 countdown on this gorgeous Saturday morning...I saw Plain White T's newest video and just had to share. 1,2,3,4 is what I like to sing along to...all...day...long!

The 'real-life' love you feel when viewing the video is so heart-warming. I thought it would be a perfect pairing with today's street fashion highlight! So...press play, look over the supremely easy to emulate street style above (take notice of all the fantastic layering) and KNOW you're in good hands as V-day approaches at record speed! Cheers, my fabulous readers!

(PS - Might you happen to recognize the gorgeous gal on the upper right? Already featured as a previous Watch4Her fashionable figure...we love all things Margherita!)

First Look: Taylor Swift for L.e.i and R.D. LOVES it!

Taylor swift for LEI

Taylor Swift is ridiculously intoxicating to me. My adoration for all things Swift started way back when. She daringly decided to dance in the rain at the American Country Music Awards last May (RD Hub approved) and her newest album Fearless is numero uno on my iPod for most rotated tunes this month. Ok, enough about my love for Taylor and onto her incredibly adorable fashion sense which we've previously mentioned HERE, HERE and HERE.

With a recession in full swing and everyone pinching pennies, I love taking the time to highlight some great AND affordable collections for my readers. Taylor Swift's new Collection for L.e.i. is just precious. Summer dresses, skinny jeans and vest combos are what's in store for you. Where to buy? Walmart baby! Target won't get jealous...and I think it's worth the trek across town. You can also check out more of Taylor's pieces, behind the shoot video and great suggestions on pairing them together on L.e.i.'s website! Enjoy!

Wardrobe Essential: Don't Forget to Wear Red on Friday, February 6th!

Go Red Collage

Wanted to send a small reminder for all my readers to wear their best RED this Friday. Why? Millions of women will be coming together to show their support of National Wear Red Day. Maybe the company you work for has already signed up in support. Lucky you, you're ahead of the game and have already picked that perfect red ensemble for Friday. For those of you that haven't heard...I hope this post raises awareness, as heart disease is the NUMBER ONE killer of women in America. A sobering fact for sure.

Great ways to get involved...join in the fun on Facebook (HERE) or Flickr (HERE). Shop to wipe out heart disease (HERE) or just check out the very informative website (HERE). Throw on a red scarf, red headband or your fave red bag if your clothing options just aren't cutting it! Such an easy thing to do and MAKE SURE to share this post with your female coworkers too. Spread the word...enjoy!

RunwayDaily Report is Right On: Stars Step Out in Piped Blazers, Buffalo Plaid and Sheer Goodness

Trends on people

Every once in a while, we like to give ourselves a big pat on the back. And make sure all our beloved readers know this is their one-stop site for up to the date trends. I love to check out People for celeb sightings but their StyleWatch category Would You Wear These Trends leaves much to be desired. They seem to always be more than a season behind.

Today, while glancing through their recent stylish news, I stumbled upon a few Oldie but Goodies that RD has proudly told you about a very LONG time ago (yes, more than a year.) Had to pat myself on the back and share with you that you can ALWAYS count on RD to keep you ahead of the trends...enjoy!

BOTB - Belle of the Ball: Best Dressed at Sidaction AIDS Benefit Gala - Milla Jovovich, Vanessa Paradis, Carla Bruni, Mischa Barton, Diane Kruger and Dita Von Teese

Best dressed at parisian gala

Recently, more than a few stylish women gathered at Paris'Pavillon d'Armenonville and showed off some serious goods. The Annual Ball brought out numerous stunners and well-dressed ladies. My Best Dressed of the above 6? I'd have to say it's a three-way tie in my book. I love the color of Carla Bruni's YSL cobalt blue gown and Milla Jovovich never disappoints in silver (Elie Saab). Lastly, Diane Kruger in Nina Ricci takes a cue from the Spring runways sporting floral and high/low hemline that oozes sex appeal! Who was your favorite? Enjoy!
