Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Affordable Rocker Chic/Biker Babe Pieces à la the Fall Runway

Rocker chic on the fall 2009 runway

Anyone who knows me KNOWS that I love/don some serious Rockstar ensembles but I tend to not splurge in the money department. Low-priced rocker/biker looks are very easy to find. As the economic recession is in full swing (in case you didn't know, ha!) I'm more price conscious than ever and want to show you similarly styled looks are still so affordable and chic.

Though I do cave in at times and invest in expensive classic pieces...I love to merely find inspiration from the Runway. Many times these trendy Runway pieces are way out of my price range so I gather these up at more affordable prices/retailers (re: Kohl's, H&M, Target, etc).

Today I've provided a collage of six different looks that just ooze cool from the Fall 2009 Runway. The looks represent an intoxicating array of leather, worn in jeans, studs, grommets, flashy fedoras and killer kicks. What is there not to love? I've also provided some speedy-savvy-stylin' below. All pieces are under $50...no huge hit to the wallet.

Also be sure check out the video of Ford Model Alejandra in the Kohl's dressing room...love it. She's putting together an ensemble for an upcoming concert and I couldn't help but notice some of her chosen pieces are VERY similar to the ones I also laid out for you. Enjoy and let out your inner Rock & Roll babe today!

Real-life Runway: Reese Witherspoon in Rodarte

Reese in Rodarte

I like when actresses take a fashion chance on the red carpet. I LOVE when it is one as right as this combo, above. Reese + Rodarte = Pure Gorgeousness! I felt like a proud Mother when I first saw that she chose this Fall 2009 frock to sport at the LA premiere of her latest movie, Monsters vs. Aliens. I'm admiring the face that she paired the artistic piece with Balenciaga pumps and, look closely, the yellow heels and shoe-back are such another unexpected splash of color. I dig a two-toned anything. Golf claps all around for Miss Reese!

Let's also take a moment to dissect the look that also sauntered down the runway in mid February. Kinga Rajzak worked the same mini-dress for Rodarte paired with Nicholas Kirkwood thigh-high boots. Need I even say I'm lusting after those boots...but Kinga's (ps - I LOVE that name) lack of makeup, tightly pulled back hair and somber expression only brings me back to Balenciaga Spring 2009. So, should I have to choose how I'd rather see this dress styled, I'm going with Reese. So perfect for Spring and so stylish for a red carpet appearance. Bravo!

Fashion Risktaker: Gorilla Arms - Fur Covered Sleeves on Numerous Fall Runways

Fur covered arms on the fall 2009 runway

This is whackalicious! I can't decide if I love, like or am just plain indifferent. One thing's certain...I felt compelled to report the upcoming risky trend. I chose my top nine fave gorilla armed looks for your dissection...but there were many, many more creepin' along the Fall Runways.

Some of the looks are downright overboard for my taste (Dolce & Gabbana, Iceberg and Aquilano.Rimondi) and would make me feel like a football linebacker. I torture myself with weekly pilates for these sleek arms. No need to add volume in that area.

I do actually adore the Miss Sixty Tuxedo version and the cropped look at Prabal Gurung and would rock those properly for years to come. Remember fur (both real and faux, we support the latter) are usually investment pieces. I do recommend if this is your first plushfull purchase that you aim keep it simple. Splurge on a more conservative chubby. Enjoy!

Muse of the Moment: Jordana Brewster

Muse of the Moment - Jordana Brewster

Jordana Brewster is just ridiculously adorable. I screamed when she appeared on one of RD Hub's fave sitcoms Chuck. If I had a girl crush...she's be IT! Sporting stylish SPECTACLES (upper left), power suits and killer fighting tactics...I think she practically stole the spotlight from the always pretty, Yvonne Strahovski. You might also know Miss Brewster from the Fast and the Furious franchise or that Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror flick that scared me for weeks. Taking a moment to steer away from her career highlights, today we're going to focus on her fashion choices and I just love her style.

Glancing above, you see that Jordana is always the lady (you know we love that). From her tea length stunners to her continual obsession with BLAZERS...this actress knows how to dress the part. She never, ever looks overdone but always looks put together and fresh. I love her personal take on a few trends including those GLADIATOR sandals (bottom right). Yes...this lady-love deserves golf claps on so many levels.

But hey, when you're that gorgeous, it's hard to do wrong. I'm here to say that Jordana's fashion looks are oh so right. How to get her look? I've included some speedy-savvy-stylin' below with all pieces chiming in under $100. So no reason not to add a bit of Jordana flair (or shall we say, accessible glam) to your wardrobe pronto! Enjoy.

Designer Chitchat: Leslie Safley Jewelry

Leslie Safley

R.D. readers, meet Leslie Safley...Leslie Safley, welcome to R.D. Now that introductions are done, let's get down to the nitty gritty of this here, Designer Chitchat. Leslie Safley's designs include numerous standout pieces...truly stunning works of art around your neck. She's been told that her pieces reflect strength and a creative aura...bravo, I see it right away! In a time when spending money is the faux pas and choices are limitless, I see Safley's designs as unbelievably wearable and absolutely au courant!

We here at RunwayDaily also want to point out the fact that layered chains are such a DO right now. We featured the look on Madonna (HERE), then at the Givenchy Fall 2008 Runway (HERE) and also spotted Sarah Jessica Parker sporting her chain-gang (HERE), to mention a few! Let your chain-lovin' lust flow overboard because Leslie Safley Jewelry has you covered in that purchasing category. Getting to the point, I had the pleasure of e-chatting with Leslie and would love to share with you some tidbits from our conversation...read below:

RD - Why Jewelry Design? When did you start?

LS - The idea of creating something that was personal, that come from the heart and from pure inspiration of the moment, but with lasting meaning, was something I love to share. After 10 years of career in the Visual Effects Industry, I started a small floral design business. With love for color, design and rich in her own life experience, I then developed further and decided to launch a jewelry line.

RD - Celebs/Models you'd love to see sporting your goods?

LS - I hope my designs appeal to a large mass and range of people. I would love to see a piece on Victoria Beckham or Cate Blanchett. they both have very different styles, but unique in their own way.

RD - Main inspiration when you design?

LS - I am inspired by something at a given moment and of things that have meaning to me, like a shape or color of a bead reminding me of a person or place or the look of different metals that when played around with are unique and fun.

RD - Fave piece from your entire Collection?

LS - I can't say if I have a favorite, but I loved the mixed metals that can be worn as both necklaces and bracelets and some of the large Italian beads are just so stunning and unique.

RD - Top Three Sellers?

LS - The top sellers are Italian Swirl Necklace, Bykechain & Simmer and Shine (all featured above).

RD - Suggestions for Spring/Summer accessories?

LS - I think all the pieces are wearable for all season, but pieces such as Sarah's silvery path and Sunrise are light, bright and fun (all featured above).

RD - Ten years...where will Leslie Safley Jewelry be?

LS - I would love to continue developing my line and growing in customizing jewelry for US and international buyers. I would like to grow, but still keep the line original and personalized. I am always looking for new ways to grow and in the process be able to contribute to causes and charities groups for women, children and animals.

*Now...just for fun...let's just say Leslie asked me a question!*

LS - RunwayDaily...just wondering what is that piece in my Collection that you have your eyes on?

RD - Oh wow, hmmmmm...first glance, I want to rock the Golden Cross Necklace, like, yesterday! I adore it's edgy vibe and your use of silver, bronze and gold all in one accessory! This piece would get some serious mileage in my wardrobe (featured above, bottom right).

Leslie, thanks so much for your time and generosity! And for sharing some insight into the jewelry design business...and the inspiration behind your gorgeous creations. Check out more of Leslie's incredible designs HERE...enjoy!

Reader Fave/Rave: Brittany C Needs Figure-Flattering Cocktail Dress with Inspiration from Scarlett/Salma's Sultry Styles

Scarlett and salma dress for their figures

Today's Reader Rave/Fave is none other than...my sister! She's been shooting me images of dresses for the last few weeks and is at a standstill on which style would suit her gorgeously curvy frame perfectly. I keep telling her to look at frock styles that similar figured women have donned (aka - Scarlett and Salma). But hey, she's a mommy to the adorable 7 month old Minnie, so I know her hands are full! I'm here to save the day and style my sister something sassy and bold for those upcoming soirees she will soon attend.

Her budget is pretty flexible because my sister has always been the type of shopper with this motto, 'If it fits, buy it!' Her tiny waist and explosive bust are something that makes shopping quite the task...and every woman envious. She's not afraid of bold coloring and also likes the idea of flutter sleeves. Funky accessories are also something that my sister always gets right. Taken this all into consideration...I've brought to the table some stellar pieces.

Since she's a new Mom, she rarely has many opportunities to get all dressed up and fancy so I want this look to make her feel supremely gorgeous. I've provided a collage of looks above featuring two ladies with similarly curvaceous bods; Scarlett and Salma. Playing off their looks, I've created some speedy-savvy-stylin' below to get my lovely Britt-Britt going...complete with numerous dress choices and some chic accessories. Naturally, since this is my sister...I've gone one step further and put together two of my fave combos from the pieces too! Love you lady and hope this helps...enjoy!

How to Wear It: Suits That Don't Bore à la Famous Celebs/Models

Suits recently spotted on celebs and models

I just adore a good suit. What I love even more is a tailored/perfect fitting one. Many a reader has emailed me with numerous 'interview' questions. In a time when an interview can make or break a person's financial future, I've taken them very seriously. An array of questions ranging from; What jewelry is appropriate? How high are heels supposed to be? What color should my suit be? Can my bag be stylish or colorful? Yes, I've fielded them all.

I dedicate today's post to all those ambitious women who are struggling with 'what to wear' to an upcoming interview. I've put together an alluring assortment of gorgeous celebrities and models sporting killer suited looks, above. Two of the models featured are stylin' in STRUCTURED SHOULDERS...can you spot them? Also, I absolutely love Emily Blunt's grey suit and Amy Adams stands out in her gorgeous WHITE version. Naomi Watts shows us she's on top of the trends sporting her pants cropped. Hoping this inspires all you gorgeous women out there to spice up that everyday black suit and be memorable at that next interview, girls night or hot date. Enjoy!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Lush Velvet Pieces for Fall

Velvet on the fall 2009 runway

Today, I deem velvet one of Fall's hottest new fabrics...mark my words. Evoking images of royal glam, velvet is a fabric that has been out of the limelight for some time. The resurgence of the extremely soft luxury pastime (insert images of little red velvet Christmas dresses that always made me feel so pretty) has me all giddy with excitement. But, the look is hard to pull off and can really look like a hot mess at a Medieval fair if done wrong.

No fear, some supreme examples above. I'm loving the long blue maxi at Tibi and the Ralph Lauren/Marc Jacobs looks are a way to stand out at any cocktail party. Love them! Seriously...I have only one velvet piece in my entire wardrobe, pathetic. One thing you can bet on: this girl will have more additions before Fall rolls around. It's warm, cozy and very photogenic...what more can a fashionista ask for? Enjoy!

Fashion Week Frenzy: Structured Shoulders Blast Through the Fall Runways

Structured soulders on the fall 2009 runway

Fashion Week Frenzy - a trend reappearing in New York,
London, Milan and Paris runway shows.

Even though Fall is still a long-time away, I love to give my readers a jump-start on trend shopping for the next season. Do I think structured shoulders will be the next big thing? That...I'm sure of. They've been sneaking into R.D. focus for a few seasons now (HERE). And we've even spotted the look on Jennifer Esposito this January (HERE). Yes, we've been all over this one.

But today I'm here to let you know that structured shoulders are also officially here! I recently invested in a long (lands around my mid-thigh) tuxedo blazer and it has some huge shoulder pads and gets some serious rotation...actually it's a piece I pull and say to myself, 'No you just wore that!'

In addition, my shoulders look extreme and my frame looks a wee-but tinier...bonus points for that! I love the look...I feel super femme in it. Though I haven't seen many structured shouldered looks at streamlined retailers as of yet, they might be there without my knowledge. A great place to start looking for a find like this...vintage/thrift stores. Get to hunting and enjoy!

First Look: Lux Lamé is One of Fall's Stand-out Essentials and Charlize Theron Already Donning

I've always been a fan of lamé. Doesn't it look like fabric made of liquid metal? But lamé is also a very tough look to get 'right'...there's truly nothing worse than some cheap looking lamé getup! With that being said, let me explain further how to properly execute a ravishing lamé ensemble, below.

Lamé flooded the Fall Runways in a surge of metallic glory. Then I stumbled upon the always gorgeous Charlize Theron and just knew I had something to share. I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below to get your lamé juices flowing but do remember that whatever lamé piece you choose to don, make sure the rest of your ensemble is subtle. I'm loving the Derek Lam/Charlize Theron looks above and think this is truly the way to go. Enjoy!
