Do you have those friends who you just stalk on Facebook, not as much to be a stalker, but to see what creative ensembles they're putting together? Well, I most definitely do my fair share of 'fashion stalking' on Facebook (if you're my friend, watch out) and I keep lusting after one darling ladies amazing wardrobe. Readers, meet the gorgeous and uber stylish Alyssa Reeder. I...want...her...closet!
I actually had the pleasure of working with Alyssa Reeder in San Francisco on a commercial shoot a few years ago (we were both models/actresses for a very long shoot) and we literally chatted non-stop the entire time. Our love of fashion, makeup, modeling and the Bay Area made us instant friends. We've kept up with one another via FB/email and boy, am so I glad we exchanged contact info that day. She literally inspires ME to be a better dresser and take more fashion chances too.
I could sing her praises over and over again, but I'll let you dive right in and view her awesome ensemble pairing aesthetic. She's truly amazingly influential in her pairing of classic pieces with statement making trends and doing it all...effortlessly. We've also provided an awesome Q&A dispersed down below so you can take a peek inside this awesome ladies real life. Per our usual, we've hand picked some amazing pieces that are directly inspired by Miss Reeder's gorgeous images. Bravo to you, the glamorous Alyssa. Thank you again for letting us feature YOU!
RWD: Where do you call home?
AR: Home. Oh, home started with Southern California...and quickly became San Francisco, when I moved there in college and fell in love with the city. And home is currently, and will be for a very long time...Manhattan!!
RWD: What do you do for a job?
AR: I am in marketing at Teen Vogue and am also Jason Wu's PR intern for his studio in NYC.
RWD: Fave job you've ever held?
AR: My favorite job would definitely be what I am doing now at Jason Wu. However, I am definitely working to stay in editorial--the end goal is writing/ editing for a fashion publication.
RWD: Most memorable place you've ever traveled to?
AR: It may just be my Spanish fever, but I am currently sitting in my kitchen in my summer apartment in Barcelona as I write this, and I the regions outside of Barce (Penedes, Costa Brava, Stitges) are so beautiful and so effortlessly stylish--I could not pick a place I'd rather be.
RWD: Number one go-to accessory?
AR: My number one go-to accessory is my Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2010 black leather waist belt. It goes with everything from summer dresses to tailored skirts and high waisted pants. Also, I NEVER leave home without my cat eye tortoise shell vintage sunglasses!
RWD: Number one go-to wardrobe piece?
AR: I am such an advocate of good, classic staples. They are the best investments and so necessary. It's hard for me to pick one. I would have to go with my black Theory flats. I can where them from work to class to going out. When you're living at the nyc, mile-a minute pace...sometimes there's no time for wardrobe changes in the day! Plus...they make me feel like Audrey Hepburn.
RWD: Fave designer? (You covet all their pieces!)
AR: Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough for Proenza Schouler. I think they are brilliant. I met them at Fashion University in NYC two years ago and I have been utterly obsessed with them since. They are so young, so edgy so talented. (Also both went to Parson's, my school!) Whenever I see their work, I just want to cry because I can't have it all.
RWD: Designer you love to don?
AR: I love to wear Jason Wu, obviously--the detail, fit and quality of his clothes are incredible...he really knows the female form. I also adore Hannah MacGibbon for Chloe. It's very airy, and unpretentious...but beautiful.
RWD: Top 5 store bought brands?
AR: I really love mixing vintage with my favorite store brands. (I was in San Francisco long enough for it's recycling habits to rub off on me, even with fashion... LOVE crossroads, buffalo exchange, etc.) I try to veer towards unknown labels and thrift store buys, BUT when I do go store brand shopping....
- Intermix: It's sort of a one-stop shop if I feel like splurging. They carry Chloe, Current/ Elliot, Jefferey Campbell, DVF and Elizabeth and James...a few of the faves.
-Zara: it's affordable, has that amazing Spanish quality, and helps keep your wardrobe up-to-date without diluting your wallet too much!
- J. Crew: really great classic staples. I buy all my v-necks here!
- Top Shop: For trendy, fun pieces! We finally got a store in Soho...so that was exciting:)
- Lf Laguna: originated in Laguna Beach. It has a really boutique-feel to it, and always makes me feel like I'm shopping around a beach city. I've picked up a few great sundresses here.
RWD: Who has influenced your personal style the most?
AR: My personal style has most definitley been influenced by my sister. She is four years older than me and completely encourages my love for clothes and unique style. Her style is very daring--and she can see a dress 8 sizes too big and the wrong color and turn it into a project...next thing you know it's tailored, dyed and amazing. Her eye is great. She got me into vintage clothing and is still one of the only people on earth I can shop with!
RWD: At what age did you know you loved all things fashion?
AR: Since the moment I could walk I have been playing dress up and rummaging through my mom's closet...but I would say when I was modeling when I was younger, I found myself always wanting to be on the other side of the garment racks...styling and making the outfits.
RWD: A fun tidbit about YOU?
AR: I have some great advice on staying fashionable for a month with only 1 suitcase! But I think I gave you more than you probably need already!
