Charity: Watch4Her - Sheena from the Uniform Project

A close friend of mine asked me if I'd heard of The Uniform Project and I was embarrassed to say I hadn't. Since I've actually not heard of it, I deemed it completely likely that some readers may be in the know and others may be just like me so I just had to share right away. Sheena from the U.P. is one smarty pants, dress donning lady with charity on the brain. She wore the same exact dress for 365 days! Want to know what it's truly all about and why she did this? Here's a snippet from her site:

"Starting May 2009, I have pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day I will reinvent the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies. Think of it as wearing a daily uniform with enough creative license to make it look like I just crawled out of the Marquis de Sade's boudoir.

The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums."

Pretty awesome and inspiring, right? She's single handedly raised over $104,000! Gold claps, high fives and huge smiles are what we're sending her way! We love inventive, creative, smart and charitable women for sure and Miss Sheena takes the cake! Also, we've taken some time and hand picked our top dozen looks from Miss Sheena's year and featured those below.

Want to keep up? Donate to her (even though her year project is over) by actually ordering a U.P dress right HERE for $150. Make sure to find the Uniform Project on Facebook HERE, Twitter HERE and follow their blog HERE.
