R.D. readers, meet Leslie Safley...Leslie Safley, welcome to R.D. Now that introductions are done, let's get down to the nitty gritty of this here, Designer Chitchat. Leslie Safley's designs include numerous standout pieces...truly stunning works of art around your neck. She's been told that her pieces reflect strength and a creative aura...bravo, I see it right away! In a time when spending money is the faux pas and choices are limitless, I see Safley's designs as unbelievably wearable and absolutely au courant!

We here at RunwayDaily also want to point out the fact that layered chains are such a DO right now. We featured the look on Madonna (HERE), then at the Givenchy Fall 2008 Runway (HERE) and also spotted Sarah Jessica Parker sporting her chain-gang (HERE), to mention a few! Let your chain-lovin' lust flow overboard because Leslie Safley Jewelry has you covered in that purchasing category. Getting to the point, I had the pleasure of e-chatting with Leslie and would love to share with you some tidbits from our conversation...read below:

RD - Why Jewelry Design? When did you start?

LS - The idea of creating something that was personal, that come from the heart and from pure inspiration of the moment, but with lasting meaning, was something I love to share. After 10 years of career in the Visual Effects Industry, I started a small floral design business. With love for color, design and rich in her own life experience, I then developed further and decided to launch a jewelry line.

RD - Celebs/Models you'd love to see sporting your goods?

LS - I hope my designs appeal to a large mass and range of people. I would love to see a piece on Victoria Beckham or Cate Blanchett. they both have very different styles, but unique in their own way.

RD - Main inspiration when you design?

LS - I am inspired by something at a given moment and of things that have meaning to me, like a shape or color of a bead reminding me of a person or place or the look of different metals that when played around with are unique and fun.

RD - Fave piece from your entire Collection?

LS - I can't say if I have a favorite, but I loved the mixed metals that can be worn as both necklaces and bracelets and some of the large Italian beads are just so stunning and unique.

RD - Top Three Sellers?

LS - The top sellers are Italian Swirl Necklace, Bykechain & Simmer and Shine (all featured above).

RD - Suggestions for Spring/Summer accessories?

LS - I think all the pieces are wearable for all season, but pieces such as Sarah's silvery path and Sunrise are light, bright and fun (all featured above).

RD - Ten years...where will Leslie Safley Jewelry be?

LS - I would love to continue developing my line and growing in customizing jewelry for US and international buyers. I would like to grow, but still keep the line original and personalized. I am always looking for new ways to grow and in the process be able to contribute to causes and charities groups for women, children and animals.

*Now...just for fun...let's just say Leslie asked me a question!*

LS - RunwayDaily...just wondering what is that piece in my Collection that you have your eyes on?

RD - Oh wow, hmmmmm...first glance, I want to rock the Golden Cross Necklace, like, yesterday! I adore it's edgy vibe and your use of silver, bronze and gold all in one accessory! This piece would get some serious mileage in my wardrobe (featured above, bottom right).

Leslie, thanks so much for your time and generosity! And for sharing some insight into the jewelry design business...and the inspiration behind your gorgeous creations. Check out more of Leslie's incredible designs HERE...enjoy!

Designer Chitchat: Amanda K Lockrow Jewelry

Amanda k lockrow - vote necklace

Are you in love yet? I am! Amanda K Lockrow Jewelry is supremely stylish, sophisticated and fun! Can't you just see numerous celebs sporting these groovy charm around their necks, especially in the next coming months? Lockrow's Vote Pendant Necklace is a killer, statement-making choice for that drool-worthy Fall Accessory you're on the hunt for...hint hint: PENDANTS were one of RD's Top Ten for Fall!

Glancing through more of her hand-made goods, I also fell in love with these other four pieces. The Anchors Away Ring might just be added to my massive growing assortment of chunky rings! And the Sublime Stackers are a fun way to mark big milestones...one by one! I got a chance to recently e-chat with Amanda and found out some fun facts about her Collection...read below:

RD - Why a VOTE Necklace? Inspiration?
AKL - I made it as a reminder to everyone including myself to voice their choice this November. I think too many people take for granted their right to vote in America and don't go to the polls. So I wanted to make a fun and very wearable necklace to remind the wearer and those who see it to VOTE. I wear an Obama button on my bag, but I thought a cute necklace would be a great accessory.

RD - WHO would you love to see sporting it?
AKL - I want to see everyone sporting it. Teachers, business women, working women, college students, musicians, celebrities, we all need to vote. I would love if Scarlett Johansson or Gwen Stefani wore one.

RD - WHAT made you get into jewelry design?
AKL - I took an elective in college in metalsmithing and was hooked. It's been my passion every since.

RD - WHICH piece is your fave from your entire gorgeous Collection?
AKL - Peaceful Moments Necklace is my favorite right now. (Featured above, bottom right)

Thanks so much Amanda for your time and gorgeously creative pieces. Find more of Lockrow's amazing pieces on Etsy.com - HERE! Also, a shout out to the always fabulous, Seeking Designers, for sponsoring today's Designer Chitchat...thanks and enjoy!

Designer Chitchat: Amy Ambroult for AG Ambroult Jewelry

For all my wonderful avid readers out there you would have immediately realized this is a whole new category here on RunwayDaily. A new one and a grand one! RunwayDaily had the pleasure of recently chitchatting with amazing jewelry designer, Amy Ambroult of AG Ambroult. Her handmade jewelry is gorgeous and wearable. Each piece is created in her workshop and the end result is a force to be reckoned with. I find so many of the pieces wearable, trendy and quite the statement-makers.

So, without further ado, I asked Amy a few questions about her fabulous AG Ambroult Collection and here is what she had to say...

***

RunwayDaily - "Your three top sellers...or four?"

Amy Ambroult - "My three top selling pieces are the mobile earrings (by far!), the Hoop & Orb necklace, the Orbit earrings, and the Peep necklace."

***

RunwayDaily - "Love them all...but what are your FAVES?"

Amy Ambroult - "My faves vary slightly from the top sellers....the spy ring (silver and mirror) and Holes Ring, and the Cylinder & Saucer earrings, and the Hoop-Linked Chain. I guess these are the pieces that I was most satisfied with...creatively speaking."

***

RunwayDaily - "What is HOT in your Collection for Spring/Summer?"

Amy Ambroult - "Hot for spring/summer: the hoop-linked chain, at 30" long, would look great draped over a flowy summer dress (or shirt) or even a beach cover-up. But, in general, I think bold pieces will be great for the summer. Less clothing gives more opportunity to show off bold summer jewelry."

***

RunwayDaily - "Where do you want to take your Collection in the next few years?"

Amy Ambroult - "As far as where I want to take the line... I am currently working on a new group of designs with a more earthy/organic feel. The pieces will feature brushed, hammered and oxidized finishes and are interpretations of the natural world without being too literal or obvious. I am taking strides to keep the sleek, contemporary feel of my existing line though."

***

RunwayDaily - "We are celeb obsessed here at R.D. Any celebs you'd swoon to see sport your pieces?"

Amy Ambroult - "I'd love to see Cheryl Crow sporting my pieces. Her style is funky/rocker but she has a natural edge to her. Charlize Theron tends to be classic, but she is a natural beauty and the peep necklace would be stunning on her."

***

Amy's talent is just extraordinary and her one-of-a-kind pieces are breathtaking. I totally have picked out a few of my own faves that I might just have to splurge on. What are they? Since I have been telling you BROOCHES are a lady-like adornment that you should all own, I'm loving the Capture Rock Pin for a more organic spin on this classic. The Simple Chain Earrings and Onyx Bullets (all pictured above) would get some serious wardrobe mileage outside of my jewelry box...LOVE them!

Amy, thanks so much for being our FIRST featured Designer Chitchatter! Your creations are beyond gorgeous and I'll leave all my readers with a quote from you that sums it ALL up...it is OHHHH, so very true!

"My pieces serve as personal decoration,

but each one stands alone as a work of art."
