Fall 2008 Ready to Wear: Black Lace

Black lace on the fall runway

So, I know we're in the heat of Summer and it's hard to imagine Fall weather anytime soon...but now is the best time for me to let you in on what I think will be BIG for Fall! I'm going to start doing precisely that, giving you weekly tips on items you should start stocking into your wardrobe so it's Fall-ready in no time!

The Fall 2008 Ready to Wear Runway Collections were literally overflowing with black lace. It's one of those fabrics that is actually hard to pull off because you don't want to look like a character from the Addams Family. But it also looks amazing layered over colors and it's easy to wear all alone...with some GILDED accessory additions, of course. I'm loving the use of soft touches of lace like Nicole Miller exemplified in the form of tights. Also, the gorgeous blouses at Derercuny and Givenchy really caught my eye!

A few days ago, we provided some pointers for what to buy for Fall at Shopbop's 70% Sale. We mentioned items like dreary plaids, lace-up boots and subdued florals (find it HERE). So we're working hard to always keep you in the know!

Today, I've provided some speedy-savvy-stylin' below that is all under $50. That's not a big hit on the checkbook, by any means so it should be easy to invest now! My fave pieces from all these Black Laced goodies? I must admit I have a shirt very similar to the Floral Lace Top by Forever 21 and it looks truly ravishing in pictures...love it! I think the Steve Madden Flats are adorable and the Mixed Media Slip Dress from Urban Outfitters is something that will transition easily from Summer to Fall! Enjoy!

Paris Fashion Week: Givenchy is Gilded with Killer Gold Accessories - Layered Chains, Gladiator Sandals and Heart-warmers

Givenchy's Fall 2008 Collection just knocked my socks off! Killer gilded accessories ran rampant atop monochromatic ensembles. Three key accessories made my eyes glimmer, so I feel it is my duty in life to share them with you. First up...the extraordinary layering of some seriously chunky gold chains:

(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to BUY!)

We all have a large collection of gold chains, no doubt...but let's just say yours is only so-so! Please just take a look and breeze through my speedy-savvy-stylin' above. Yes, that's right...all chains are under $50 so there are no excuses. I'm not saying you have to layer as thick as they did at Givenchy...but don't be afraid to pair 3 or 4 together over a white ensemble for Spring and black for Fall. Up next...the Gold Gladiator Sandals:

Givenchy_fall_2008_gold_gladiator_s

(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to BUY!)

You all should already know my upmost love of all things Gladiator (Here and Here and Here and Here.) Yes, we officially have a fashion crush. Point made, over and over again...invest in some Gladiator sandals. And as far as Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy is concerned, the more golden the better! Lastly, add a little Golden Heart to your ensemble:

(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to BUY!)

This is the perfect accessory addition to all those LADY-LIKE looks we've been chatting about for Spring, as of recent! Then carry your lil' Golden Hearted Goodness on over, into Fall, paired with black or a darker shade.

So we're definitely up for giving some golf claps to Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy for inspiring us to broaden our gilded horizons and add a little glimmer to our Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter ensembles!

Milan Fashion Week: Pretty in Paisley Floods the Gucci, D&G and Burberry Prorsum Runways

Gucci_fall_2008_paisley_on_the_runw

Paisley is such a classic print. It's been around for honestly EVER! It's supremely ladylike, sophisticated but FUN all at once. It's a print that everyone can sport. For more petite women, it will not TAKE OVER their tiny figures. Yes, it's truly a very versatile print. And being just that, numerous design houses showed ensembles with a touch of paisley, and more. Some showed entire ensembles covered in the print and others only hinted from a paisley scarf wrapped around a fur coat (Burberry Prorsum) to a sheer paisley blouse with killer skinny-trousers (Gucci).

Paisley is easy to find and purchase...but just something I think you should keep your eye on for Spring/Summer and obviously into Fall. Make it a subdued hue and it will transition well into your Fall wardrobe colors. Or go bright and bold and wear that goody all Spring/Summer long! One thing's for certain, Gucci, D&G and Burberry Prorsum are fashion houses that strive to set the trends and do so, year to year...so take note, shop the looks via my speedy-savvy-stylin', way below...and hop on this here, Paisley Bandwagon, pronto!

PS - I know you just LOVE that I've thrown in some cutie suits to get you inspired for that SUMMERY BRONZED HOT BODY KARATE! Everything is under $150 and I seriously have the wallet out and am ready to purchase the O & G Chiffon Paisley Blouse. So cute and transitional. Just imagine it with a jean vest over top? So boho-chic!

How to Wear It: The Long Vest - Featured at New York, London and Milan Fashion Week

The_long_vest_is_extra_long_and_flo

I just can't get enough of this hot new trend! I do deem it one of the bigger trends that will take notice this Fall. But why wait till then, eh? Get on it now! I've really done my research this go-round, lady loves. And plan to have you RACING away from this here, post, just to go get yourself THE LONG VEST of your dreams!

Featured above, I've collaged three looks from Jeremy Laing, Alexander Wang and House of Holland. All three are sporting a long vest with trousers. Some WIDE-LEG, others skinny as can be. I love that the vests are extra long, loose and flowing. Easy to emulate as two of the three vested looks are layered over a t-shirt. There's some speedy-savvy-stylin' for you, way below and I want you to take notice of the BDG Boyfriend Sweater Vest which would be a perfect option for perfecting the trouser/long vest combo!

The_long_vest_over_dresses_and_skir

Now just above, we have three other, more highly sophisticated versions of the long vested look. Seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Dolce & Gabbana and Marni, the vests were paired with longer dresses and skirts. They were then layered over turtlenecks or collared shirts and all tied up with a killer leather belt! Please tell me you immediately took notice of the DOUBLE-WRAPPED BELT at 3.1? I have you trained, very well, my love! Yes, LADY-LIKE indeed...pair any sweater vest over a FULL SKIRT and TURTLENECK (or tank in the summer) and you're an easy target to be called, "One chic and preppy, princess!" Which speedy-savvy-stylin' vest catches my eye for this category? I'd have to say the Style&Co. Deep V-neck version and at $14.95, what a steal!

The_long_vest_over_a_mini_dress_and

Last, but not least, we have three more versions from the Eley Kishimoto, Lacoste and Dsquared² Runways that make the Long Vest beyond versatile. It's the piece that catapults even plain-jane outfits into stellar and stylish ensembles. Notice the pairing of a mini-dress and longer vest...love that at Eley Kishimoto. How about the "boy meets girl" version at Lacoste...do you love? If not, just remove the tie and pair the entire look with some spring-worthy STRAP-HAPPY PLATFORMS and you're all sex and sophistication at once!

So there you have it, my amazing fashionistas! So simple to emulate and very easy to carry over from spring to summer to fall. I can guarantee you that you won't be the first lady-love you know to just wear a vest...but you might be the first to make it extra, extra LONG! Enjoy!

Milan Fashion Week: Zippers Hold Strong on the Runway and Victoria Beckham, Kate Beckinsale and Heather Graham Show Their Zipped-Up Style

Zippers_on_the_fall_runway_in_milan

There is something very, very sexy about zippers! I gather it's just the immediate gratification due to the ease at which the clothing can be removed from those sporting the piece. They add a touch of bad-ass to all ensembles...yet the look is HARD to pull off. It can come off as white-trashy and prostitutional (yes, you can add those to your fashion dictionary) if not donned correctly!

I'm sure, if you breezed through your present wardrobe, you'd see many pieces with zippered fronts, sides and hemlines. Sport them, pronto! I'm loving some of the above looks, from the Milan Runway shows. Featured designers, upper left and clockwise; Versace, Daks by Giles Deacon, Emilio Pucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared², Iceberg, Dsquared² and Iceberg. My fave look of the bunch is the show-stopping red sweater-dress at Iceberg. I'd rock that beaut for sure!

Check out these three sexy celebs, below, who've already jumped on the zipper sporting bandwagon; Victoria Beckham, Kate Beckinsale and Heather Graham. Each accented her own personal style with a zipped-up piece, boosting the sex-factor of their total ensemble, for sure!

Victoria_beckham_katie_beckinsale_a

So, what do you say lady-loves? Zippers are a H-O-T statement maker and easy to find. No need to bore you with speedy-savvy-stylin' options...you can handle this mission for sure. Zippers adorning skinny jeans, cable-knit sweaters, leather bombers and tight minis are all viable options! Hey, maybe even check out some sassy under-garments for a cheeky surprise...and on that last note, you better believe, my lil' lips are zipped!

London Fashion Week: Oversized and Exaggerated Ensembles Garner BIG Attention and Will Ferrell Shows His Support

Oversized_and_exaggerated_pieces_at

So, a few days ago we mentioned that oversized coats made a massive showing on the runway at New York Fashion Week (Click HERE for the Story). We giggled and made fun of the ridiculousness of the entire look. Well, unfortunately, London Fashion Week was chock-full of the same exaggerated and oversized pieces. Oh no, right?

In my little mind, there is absolutely nothing about this look that is feminine, attractive or even worthy of praise. I'm not really sure what all the designers are thinking, on this one! One thing's true, it will be very easy to emulate...just borrow your Dad's, Boyfriend's, Husband's or guy friend's jackets and over-coats and voila...you're runway ready!

Please do check out the pic, below, of Will Ferrell. He recently showed up at the premiere of his new movie, Semi-Pro, wearing an oversized suit that he claims he borrowed from, none other than, Shaq! Always the funny man, Ferrell doesn't seem to be the sort of man to stay on top of runway fashion so I'm definitely chalking this one up to coincidence. Even Ferrell makes the look, whole-heartedly, laughable! Enjoy!

London Fashion Week: The 80's Called and They Want Their Onesie Back

80s_style_onesies_on_the_london_run

Sorry...but...there...is...nothing...flattering...about...a...leotard...ONESIE! Seriously, please do not come back as a serious/stylish trend this season, dear onesie! I'm ALL for using you as a layering piece...but NOT as the entire ensemble as seen above, at Louise Goldin. Oh wait, but maybe if I just add some little tykes football pads (left pic from Louise Goldin) it will make everything better. W-R-O-N-G!

House of Holland is the only, wee-bit acceptable version in this collage of looks, but that's merely because the jacket and lace-up boots just rock and the pattern detracts from the point that it's an 'exposed' onesie, indeed. Disclaimer on this: Do not leave the house...try this only at home!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Latex/Pleather Leggings at London Fashion Week and Spotted on Rihanna and Nicky Hilton

Latex_pleather_black_pants_on_the_f

Christopher Kane and Topshop Unique both showed Collections complete with RunwayDaily's item du jour; pleather/leather leggings! Seriously, they garner some serious attention when I sport them...continual questions, "Where did you get those? They are so hot!" As a result, they've had some serious wardrobe rotation, as of recent!

Are you wondering what I pair them with? Platform black heels, scoop neck black bubble hem dress and a tight black vest. I've also worn them with a big camel-colored sweater and booties. One thing's a must when sporting such a bad-girl look...hold yourself with confidence, wear them with pride and seriously strut your stuff. You'll look irresistibly COOL in these skin-tight goodies, just like the two gorgeous gals below! Go Rihanna and Nicky Hilton...work those pleather gams!

London Fashion Week: Printed, Patterned and Painted Tights Make for Stylish Runway Gams

Printed_tights_make_a_bold_statemen

(Designers featured above, upper left and clockwise; Paul Smith Women, Duro Olowu, Jaeger London, Louise Goldin, Paul Smith Women, Paul Smith Women, Eley Kishimoto, Paul Smith Women, Eley Kishimoto, Louise Goldin)

These tights are just so much FUN! Seriously, so many of them sauntered down the London Runways during Fall Fashion Week. I know many of the ensembles are a bit daring and hodge-podge...but imagine some killer printed tights with a monochrome ensemble? H-O-T! For instance, imagine this...a show-stopping, mini LBD and the MUSTARD colored snake-skin tights, featured above, at Jaeger London. Now that would be one SMOKIN' look for a night out on the town.

I'm a tights gal for sure. In my drawer I boast some purple, cerulean blue, light grey, black with itty bitty white dots and an array of fun fishnets...but PRINTED/PATTERNED tights have not found their way in RD's wardrobe, yet. Oh, I can assure you...they will! I'm aboslutely eating this look up and can't wait to sport a pair of floral printed goodies this Spring/Summer and then maybe a pair of earth-toned paisley's for Fall! Enjoy!

London Fashion Week: Cross Your Heart with a Side Slung Bag

Side_slung_bags_on_the_fall_londo_2

Love these bags! All over the Runways at London Fashion Week were side-slung bags. Other synonyms for these cross-hearted goodies; messenger, sling, saddle or cross-body bag! Whatever we want to deem them...one thing's for sure, they are CHIC!

Take a peek at the above collage and see the array of bag styles. Small and petite at House of Holland, a flat messenger version at Jaeger London and skinny straps at Eley Kishimoto and Paul Smith Women. I would actually bet some serious moolah that you have a big, right now, in the depths of your closet that can fit this side-sling mold perfectly! Or...do you have a bag with removable straps? Go to your local guitar shop, but a guitar strap then VOILA...hook it ON and cross your heart!

Side_slung_bags_on_the_fall_londo_3

A few more looks from London Fashion Week to make sure, this new purse-sporting style, resonates with you! I do have to say, I'd steer clear of the furry versions, similar to the puff-ball at House of Holland (directly above) as it lends a feeling of raiding your 7 year old sister's closet! NOT cool!

Just keep an eye out for a luxurious leather messenger, a lady-like flat bag with a long strap or even a glittery nighttime clutch with removable strap can fulfill the need. I've provided some speedy-savvy-stylin' for you below. Just click on the thumbnail and you'll be directed RIGHT TO find out more about the bag and to maybe even buy! My top two from this grouping has got to be the Market Bag By Jaye Hersh or the Grand Canyon Saddlebag, with it's two 'must have' large front pockets! Love this look...this Spring and on into Fall...allow your bags to ride side-saddle!

New York Fashion Week: Be the "Queen Bee" in a Classic Preppy Ensemble

Preppy_looks_on_the_fall_runway_1

Preppy ensembles dominated the Fall Runways in New York City...as seen above at Lacoste, Diane von Furstenberg, Charles Nolan, ADAM and many more. Timeless pieces that will always be chic and classic sauntered on down. The cream cable-knit sweater and satin trouser combo at ADAM is the perfect pairing for a laid-back dinner party. How about the tie and V-neck sweater set at Lacoste? So school-girl prep and OH SO chic! And the layering at Charles Nolan? I love the long sleeved button up shirt under the 3/4 cardigan...take note: button-up under a cardigan has got to be the easiest combo to emulate in order to achieve this look!

Preppy_looks_on_the_fallrunway_2

Marc Jacobs interpretation is one to take notice of, as well. A simple crew neck sweater, with a pop of white collar out the top. The addition of the metallic silver trousers, classic pump and traditional bag allow the pieces to work well when paired with other items too. Check out Elie Tahari's "boy meets girl" preppy ensemble. I love the black turtleneck under the white collared shirt, and then again under the button up cardigan. THIS, my lady-loves, is where preppy meets STYLISH! Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang both went classic with their approach...pearls, crested/V-neck sweaters and cropped jackets make their looks, drool-worthy!

Preppy_looks_from_the_fall_runway_3

Last but not least, we have four more looks from the Fall Runway that aim to personify, "Queen Bee" Preppy-Chic. Rag & Bone, always the androgenous interpreters and the KINGS of prep on the Runway paired the red "power" tie and military inspired button-up cardigan. Two words - just brilliant! Boy by Band of Outsiders also dressed to impress...pairing a plaid sweater vest with a shrunken blazer, button-up shirt and wide-leg trousers...love it!

So, what do you say? Channel your inner prep...add some pop-up collars, crests, pearls, vests and a tie (if you dare) to your casual daily ensemble. My request...accentuate the entire look with some "READING" Glasses and WIDE-LEG Trousers, that are also some of Fall's hottest must-haves! Some speedy-savvy-stylin' below to let-out your inner school girl prep...asap!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Be Striking - The Sexy Librarian: Wear Fake Reading Glasses Like Michael Kors Runway Models

The_sexy_librarian_reading_glasses_

Ahhhhh...I just about screamed when I saw Michael Kors Fall 2008 Runway pictures. So, I have a little something to admit. I have perfect vision, my father is an optometrist and there is NO REASON I need to wear glasses during the day. But I soooo badly wanted to. So I asked him, "Dad, is there anyway we can just put clear glass is some really cool frames, so I can look like a nerd?" He laughed and replied, "Of course, they are called plain-o's!"

So, I sport my plain-o Lacoste glasses with so much nerdy pride! Seriously ladies...even RunwayDaily hub says it brings the S-E-X factor up, another notch! I DO feel beyond sexy, smart and sophisticated when I wear them. It's fun and feels a bit naughty too because I'm sort of 'lying' about needing glasses to passers-by.

My sister did this WAY back in her college years and we used to always rummage through drawers of vintage frames in my Dad's office, when we were just lil' tykes...so glasses have always held a special place in my heart. So, needless to say, and to merely reduce my retrospective rant, invest in some spectacles and release your inner SEXY librarian, pronto!

New York Fashion Week: Delicate Flowers Bloom Again this Fall

Floral_garments_on_the_fall_runway

Happy Valentine's Day, officially! I know I mentioned it in today's previous post, but I want to make sure each and every reader knows how much I appreciate their undivided attention on a daily basis.

So, as I'm sitting here rooting through London Fashion Week Runway pics (I know, I'm behind...I'll have them up soon) I have The View on in the background. You know, the TV show where Rosie and Elizabeth got in a fight. Barabara Walters and Whoopi are always cracking up and Joy is always cursing. Do you know it yet? Well, anyways, back to my point. Sherri Shepherd is another co-host and she just kept saying how MUCH she wanted a gift for Valentine's Day. She's recently divorced and she just didn't see "the gift thing" happening and that was upsetting her, honestly!

So at first I was a bit disgusted and just wanted to say 'get a life!' But then I started thinking of all the women who are NOT getting chocolate, jewelry, dinner or flowers this Valentine's Day. So low and behold, I took it upon myself to GIVE MY READERS...drum-roll please...Runway Flowers!!!

So above, my earnest gift to you, my wonderful readers...a collage of some gorgeous Fall frocks that graced the Runways in New York. Everyone from Anna Sui to Erin Fetherston to Michael Kors and Behnaz Sarafpour showed floral accouterment. So there, Sherri...now you CAN'T keep saying that you didn't get flowers!

New York Fashion Week: The Incomparable Wide Leg Trouser Dominates the Runway

Brown_wide_leg_trousers_on_the_fall

The Wide Leg Trouser was on of the overwhelming pieces on the Fall Runway. Why? Because they are H-O-T and so flattering on numerous female figures! They were everywhere in New York, both on and off the Runway. They came in numerous color palettes but today I'm going to focus on the browns (above), the greys and the blacks! (below) Three great color families that can be paired with an array of bright colored garments.

So, above, we have the browns...four of the five looks have a cinched waistline on TOP of the garment. You must notice the RUFFLY BLOUSE at Diane von Furstenberg or the TURTLENECK at Elie Tahari, creating a ladylike but casual look. I also really love the tie-belt at BCBG and the huge scarf at Lacoste. Looks to emulate for sure!

Grey_toned_wide_leg_trousers_on_the

Above we have the greys that stormed the New York Runway. These are pretty easily expressed in one word; LAYER! I'm talking cardigans over collared shirts, cropped jackets over cardigans, turtlenecks under an oversized trench and massive cowl-necks under a structured blazer. One things for sure, a trouser is the perfect compliment for each ensemble!

Black_wide_leg_trousers_on_the_fall

And last but not least, the black toned trousers. I just adore the combos at Carolina Herrera and Proenza Schouler...the tweed jacket and messy scarf...then the oversized trench and black cardigan. How about the long vest at Jeremy Laing...totally chic! The addition of the BEANIE at Alexander Wang just makes the look tough and mean, but I still dig it. How about all that fur at Douglas Hannant? That is one striking look for a night OUT on the town!

So there you have it, many a choice for a wide leg trouser look! There are ZERO excuses now...over 15 different ways to ROCK your wide leg goodies! Is it still not enough to convince you? Take a glance below and see the beauties that have already been spotted in their wide-leg, comfortable and supremely stylish britches!

And just because it's Thursday and it's Valentine's Day...I'm feeling quite loving, so I've put together an assortment of wide-legged FUN for you to breeze through. But, this isn't any old speedy-savvy-stylin' today...all the looks are under $50. So there will be NO breaking the bank for trousers, after splurging on yourself or your loved one, for today's heart-pumping Holiday!

New York Fashion Week: Buffalo Plaid Floods the Ralph Lauren Runway and Lauren Conrad Follows Suit

Buffalo_plaid_on_ralph_lauren_fall_

RunwayDaily has a deep love for buffalo plaid. Why? Well, every year since I've been very young, my entire family (50 members) has spent every Thanksgiving in North Carolina at our mountain cabins. Roasting s'mores by the fire, smelling the turkey in the oven, and seeing my father and all my uncles sport their buffalo plaid shirts all week long.

There's something a bit redneck/hillbilly and then there also a sort of British Hunting Party aura too. One thing's certain, buffalo plaid is going to take a front seat on all sorts of garments this fall! Great place to grab a piece of plaid for your wardrobe...always a local thrift store. Also, don't be afraid to glance through the men's section...a small/medium would look great with skinny jeans and flat oxford shoes!

So without further ado, look who was recently seen, around town, in her buffalo plaid below. Always ahead of the fashion scene, Lauren Conrad looks great in her green/black school-girl coat! I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' for you to breeze through too! Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week: The Turtleneck Reigns Supreme

Turtlenecks_on_the_runway

Seriously, turtlenecks were ONE of the go-to essentials for Fall layering on New York's hottest Runways. I want you to be sure to notice the large array of options when deciding how to wear your T-necks, as this post provides overwhelming inspiration and ideas! So do dig them out of the back of your closet and start layering them with trousers, full skirt, shorts/tights and underneath nearly any dress!

Featured above, at Ralph Lauren and Lacoste, the T-neck compliments both skirt and trouser suit-sets. At Michael Kors and Maxazria, a full skirt completes the look for both...making the ensemble more lady-like and casual. And Isaac Mizrahi's cable-knit T-neck vest is just dead-on, school-girl chic...LOVE it!

Above, you can see that necks were all covered up again at Costello Tagliapietra, Nicole Miller and Erin Fetherston...but these Designers chose to layer the T-neck under a dress, giving it instant chic and adding new/Fall life to even the plainest-jane dresses! Ports 1961 showed a gorgeous cream sleeveless dress and Charles Nolan chose to use a peach T-neck to add a pop of color to his Runway ensemble!

Last but not least, we have 5 more versions to show you. Elie Tahari went for a dark purple and paired it with a wide-leg trouser and cropped sweater...and did you notice that STATEMENT NECKLACE? They are still loitering into Fall, yay! Marc Jacobs had a similar look, only with lighter shades and a leather bomber! Carolina Herrera and Jill Stuart played with some creative layering techniques and Abaete's look is one I'm lusting after and will be SURE to emulate soon!

New York Fashion Week: Brooches Add Sparkle to Fall's Lady-like Ensembles

Brooches_on_the_runway_at_new_york_

In following with Spring and Fall's lady-like ease, brooches were a hot accessory on the New York Fall Runways. Featured above, you see 6 looks from 6 different designers. Each one adorned with the cute lil' pins that we usually associate with grand mothers. Not anymore...a brooch should be your new best friend!

They truly add an heir of elegance and are a great way to jazz up a plain-jane suit or a monochromatic look. Brooches can be bought EVERYWHERE...from target to H&M, from thrift stores to Nordstrom...this one is EASY to find and completely depends upon your personal style/taste preferences. I've included a tiny bit of speedy-savvy-stylin' below, just to get your brain a crankin' about...all things BROOCH! Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week: Betsey Johnson Shows Vintage Pieces from Previous Collections

Betsey_johnson_vintage_pieces_on_th

Oh, I absolutely adore this post. First of all, Betsey Johnson is one of the more iconic designers in the industry. Her style is eclectic, bright and supremely sexy/feminine. She is extremely creative and LOVES the color pink. Just an all-around girly-girl, in my eyes!

So you must be wondering what this is, we have here above? Well, Betsey Johnson did her usual on the Runway this year...she went all out, colors were vibrant, scenery was decadent and the clothing was, in her words, "Kick Ass!" But she also did something very special...sourcing over 15 looks from vintage dealers, Betsey showed an array of previous garments to celebrate her 30 years in the business.

Please do yourself a favor and just glance at these gorgeous ensembles above. Seriously, no seriously...in fashion...everything eventually comes back (I'm still waiting for hyper color t-shirts to make their second appearance) and Johnson's calling of her vintage assortment as 'timeless' might actually be accurate, due to the NEON-love affair we're having, as of recent!

Copy-Cat(walk): Balenciaga's Spring 2008 Collection "Influences" Fall 2008 Pieces for Vivienne Tam and Bill Blass

Copy_cat_walk_vivienne_tom_and_bill

So what do we have here? Well, breezing through all the Fall Collections...I stumbled upon some potential Copy-Cat material. I'll let you be the judge...but if my eyes serve me right, Vivienne Tam and Bill Blass sent looks down the Fall 2008 Runway that looked a wee-bit similar to those seen on Balenciaga's Spring 2008 Runway, last September!

The colors, big shoulders, full skirt and even two of the cuts are DEAD ON! So, once again, I'm all for finding inspiration from other Collections...but do you think Vivienne Tam and Bill Blass went a bit too far? Always something new to ponder...in the ever-changing world of FASHION!

New York Fashion Week: Hat to Have - Beanies are Turning Heads on the Runway

Beanies_on_the_fall_runway

Beanies have been around for a long, long time. Every person, in every walk of life, has most-likely, been photographed, at least once, donning a beanie! They fit in pockets, can easily be thrown in purses, come in an array of colors...and most importantly, they keep your HEAD warm!

As of recent, I was surprised to see so many on the Fall Runway. From Catherine Malandrino to Laura Poretzky of Abaeté...designers were experimenting with urban culture by sending models down the runway wearing this extremely casual form of headgear!

The beanie alludes to numerous genres of casual wear, adding, possibly a touch of; tough, rough, rocker-chic, urban, hip-hop or goth...to numerous Collections! Dare I say, I dig beanies! For any bad hair day, they've become my savior for a night out on the town. With that being said...beanies might just become the head-wear trend that might be your TOP choice this Fall!
