I love the
OSCARS! And you know I have a stellar re-cap for my dear readers today. What a great show it was...I don't think I missed a second. R.D. family was at the mall and rushed home to start watching the arrivals hours before hand. I know, I'm obsessed. But like I told you
HERE, I consider the Academy Awards coverage a 'working day.'
So, starting out on the top row I've shared my thoughts on the five leading Belles of the Ball (
BOTB) last night. Left to right, Angelina Jolie (sidenote - I'm a married woman...I'm all about Team Aniston and man, was that awkward, when she presented on-stage only FEET in front of Angie...she was all class) took my breath away in her black Elie Saab ensemble. Her Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including those
OVERSIZED 115-carat emerald earrings and that head-turning 65-carat emerald cocktail ring were the supreme additions to such a classic look...I loved them. Ferragamo heels and a Lana Marks clutch round out the show-stopping look.
Next up is the always stylish Anne Hathaway. Her glittering Armani Privé gown fit her like a glove and sort of reminded me of last years winner, Marion Cotillard's gown. Ok, back to Annie...with over $750,000 of Cartier jewels accenting the look, this lady was shimmering. A Casadei clutch and Roger Vivier heels complete her gorgeous ensemble.
Insert drumroll for my numero uno best dressed last night...Natalie Portman in her pleated Rodarte bubble-gum
PINK goodness. As soon as the cameras panned to her I looked right at R.D. Hubby and said, 'That's IT! She's best dressed!' And in all honesty, I'd only seen half of the arrivals. I knew it right away...her hair, makeup, Kwiat diamond accessories and neutral clutch really let the dress do all the work. My gosh...I just adored it!
Rounding out the spectacular Top Five is Frieda Pinto and Taraji P. Henson. Frieda is one of the prettiest women I have ever seen (see Slumdog, I think you'll agree). Her deep blue John Galliano gown is extremely stylish with it's single laced sleeve and asymmetrical neckline. How about her gorgeous cocktail ring that she mentioned was 150 years old and from India. You know R.D. is a vintage lovin' freak...so golf claps for that. Jimmy Choo heels and a Judith Leiber clutch round out her look. Lastly, Taraji's ivory tiered Roberto Cavalli gown almost became our number one pick. R.D. Hubby really loved this gown and on camera the abstract layers were ones that I couldn't take my eyes off of. Her hair, makeup, Fred Leighton jewels and Mary Norton clutch complete her spectacular look.
I wanted to give a mention to five other attendees; Jessica Biel, Susan Downey (Robert Jr.'s wife), Penelope Cruz, Alicia Keys and Evan Rachel Wood who all donned looks that weren't too far behind my top 5. All lady-like and supremely styled, each woman really looked very confident in her chosen frock. The hair, makeup, jewels and accessories were spot-on too! Golf claps to you five ladies as well.
As for the bottom five...seriously, what were they thinking. Beyoncé is usually always so elegantly dressed but this was just wrong. SJP looked like a hot mess just busting out of her gown. Cotillard wowed me last year but was sub-par (bottom left) this year. I don't even have the words for Amanda Seyfriend...well, maybe just a NO! Lastly, Queen Latifah missed the mark too. So that's all I have for your Oscar coverage...leave a comment and let me know if your fashion thoughts were/weren't on the same page as ours! Enjoy!
