While the other half genuinely loves that these gorgeous gals are taking chance, a fashion risk, and stepping outside their ensemble sporting comfort zone.

Afternoon Pick Me Up: Fashion Risktaker - Printed Satin Pants for Fall

Printed satin pants on the runway for fall

Boring and black...these pants are not (said in my best Yoda voice!) Some fashion critics say the massive influx of prints are to bring life and 'party' back into these harsh economic times. We say, great! We here at RWD love a great print and these satin pants in all sorts of prints are just the piece we're looking to add to our upcoming fall/winter wardrobe.

You can either keep the top simple with a great cardigan, leather bomber or stunning sheer blouse (like Devi Kroell) or opt for something bright and wild like Isaac Mizrahi and Dries Van Noten. Either way, the pants will garner a ton of attention so this trend isn't for the faint at heart. Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Crazy Navy on the Runway and in Real-life

Navy on the fall runway

Navy is a great color. It's so regal and sophisticate so that's why it's a great color to be daring with. Many navy looks cruised down the Fall 2009 runway, and a hand-full were daring and crazy. Above you'll see some looks that caught my eye and aren't just your average navy ensembles. Recently, below, some models and celebs have been hopping on the crazy navy bandwagon. It's a great way to take a chance on that wild cocktail dress or even a statement making bag. I've put together some supreme speedy-savvy-stylin' for you to glance through way below. Some fabulous navy pieces that stand out and will surely turn heads. Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Three Celebs Step Out in Head-to-Toe Red Ensembles

Ciara, penelope and cate in all red

Three gorgeous ladies recently were spotted stepping out in quite the risky ensembles. We've chatted before about monochromatic looks and have very rarely spotted the look in real-life. It's nice to see these three women above venturing out in the creative dressing category and I'd like to say that I think each of them truly got the look 'just right!'

From Ciara's daring and plunging Marchesa jumpsuit and matching pointy-toed heels to Cate Blanchett's scarlet dress with matching sandals...each lady donned a look that was very much her own. My fave of the the three just happens to be in the middle. Penelope Cruz regally stands out in her red Bottega Veneta suit and matching heels.

Each lady deserves golf claps for taking a risk and translating this runway trend in their own, personal way and totally getting it right...enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: The Crop Top - As Seen On Bosworth, Lohan, Kruger, etc

Stars and celebs wearing a crop top

For little pale me, this here is a daring choice. Now...let's go back two/three years and I'd be sporting this all over the Caribbean and Florida. Now that I'm a northern Cali girl and well, the sun just don't shine as much in these parts, I think I'll leave this one up to you, dear tan/sun-kissed readers. If you have abs then this is a definite do for you. Maybe your still doing those crunches to get into bikini shape...take style notes from Kate Bosworth (above) and layer a tank underneath your cropped goodie.

Just for the record, exposing your mid-drift is no longer a fashion taboo...it's HOT! Some speedy-savvy-stylin' below to get your cropped shopping started early. Be the first to don this daring new trend. Take time to breeze through my awesome selection below. I really love the bright YELLOW hue of the Corey Lynn Calter Marla Cropped Flutter Top for $37.19 (that's such a mouth full) and would totally wear that with boyfriend jeans and gladiator sandals all Summer long. Seriously, if you've already jumped on this trend train...tag me in a pic on Facebook (link below too) and I might just feature your look. Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Gorilla Arms - Fur Covered Sleeves on Numerous Fall Runways

Fur covered arms on the fall 2009 runway

This is whackalicious! I can't decide if I love, like or am just plain indifferent. One thing's certain...I felt compelled to report the upcoming risky trend. I chose my top nine fave gorilla armed looks for your dissection...but there were many, many more creepin' along the Fall Runways.

Some of the looks are downright overboard for my taste (Dolce & Gabbana, Iceberg and Aquilano.Rimondi) and would make me feel like a football linebacker. I torture myself with weekly pilates for these sleek arms. No need to add volume in that area.

I do actually adore the Miss Sixty Tuxedo version and the cropped look at Prabal Gurung and would rock those properly for years to come. Remember fur (both real and faux, we support the latter) are usually investment pieces. I do recommend if this is your first plushfull purchase that you aim keep it simple. Splurge on a more conservative chubby. Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Animal Inspired Print Leggings at Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and Miss Sixty

Animal print leggings on the fall 2009 runway

The 80's are back in full-swing! At the Fall 2009 Runway Shows I've spotted neon, oversized sweats, tattered denim, grungy layering and bold/bright accessories...to name a few. Today I'm featuring a piece that all my fashion daredevils are sure to delight in; Animal Print Leggings. Dare I say that THIS RIGHT HERE is NOT how to wear them (but come on, it's Jordan...she's not known to be a budding fashionista, right?)

Instead, breeze through the six looks above for some inspiration but make sure put your own spin on things. What do I mean? Should you already own a high-waisted paper-bag skirt and a racer-backtank...pair those with your new flashy leggings. I'd say the most wearable ensemble of the above six is in the upper right corner at Miss Sixty. I think I own every single piece in this look except the leggings. Hmmmm...I'm tempted to start shopping for a pair today! Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Tuck that Scarf Into a Belt

Belted scarf - fall 2008

It's chilly outside today and I've got a scarf around my neck, even though I'm already inside. I'm a girl that owns probably 25 scarfs (much to RD Hubby's dismay - he has said that is WAY too many) and I wear them constantly. Obviously, I reside in San Francisco, so we CAN actually don them year round. But, it's scarf season in many other locales so I just had to post this incredibly chic new option to sport your scarf...tuck it into a belt.

So easy, so fresh, so chic. I know I mentioned all my favorite Fall 2008 Runway Scarfs HERE, but this go-round, I wanted to make SURE you got the hint...got it? This is something I'll be sporting in the next week, I can assure you of that! It's just a quick way to add some interest to an outfit and also, on windy days, nothing annoys me more than my wild and uncontrollable scarf. Tuck it it and voila, problem averted!

Fashion Risktaker: Heidi Klum's Signature Style - Peek a Boo Bra

Heidi klum - see through shirts - peek a boo bra

I know we've mentioned how hot and sexy we think peek-a-boo bras are HERE. This is a serious fashion risktaker as it's really hard to get just right...can come off a bit trashy, if you get my drift. Heidi honestly can't do much wrong, in my eyes, when glancing through her many amazing fashion choices. The mom of three always looks so smoking hot and stylish. I must say...this is a style I might start sporting. A black bra and a metallic SHEER shirt or a white bra underneath a sheer red or black blouse. Throw on some LIBRARIAN SPECS and you'll look too smart and chic for your own good. Lovin' this look and something tells me, Rd Hub will approve too! Enjoy!

Milan Fashion Week: Fashion Risktaker - MaxMara's 'Clogs & Suits'

MaxMara - Clogs and Suits - Spring 2009

Ok, this is just strange! MaxMara's Spring 2009 Collection has been literally trashed by fashion critics. Known for their supremely comfortable business suits, timeless coats and impeccable Italian tailoring...MaxMara just missed the mark with this Spring Collection. One thing that ultimately caught my attention was MaxMara's choice of footwear.

Clogs? I'm so confused! Would you ever wear clogs with a suit? Not I. Hmmmm...possibly during your commute, as there are some WAY comfy clogs out there for purchase. That's about as far as I can stretch this idea into realization. Functionality over fashion? Who ever heard of such a thing? I dare you to clog it up at work...a calculated risk I'm just not willing to take. Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Monochromatic Looks for Fall

Monochromatic looks on the runway

I have a great story for some solid-color history. At a Student Council Meeting in High School we were diligently discussing what ensembles our 5-day Senior Spirit Week should consist of. Such frequently suggested ideas were; Twins Day, College Day, Decades Day, etc. One member enthusiastically raised her hand and suggested, 'Solid Color Day' and the room erupted in laughter. Well, kudos to her! That darling was WAY before her time...as solid color ensembles galavanted down the Runway in record numbers, for Fall.

Bottega Veneta, Proenza Schouler, Donna Karan and Iceberg are highlighted above. Bottega showing the most awe-inspiring and daring risks in their full body monochromes. But glancing at the two looks, bottom right, you'll see Proenza Schouler and Bottega Veneta and notice that the whole ensemble isn't the same color, but rather the same color palette with a possible POP of accessory boldness. These are looks I'm going to emulate for Fall. Are you daring enough to go all the way? If so, I'd love to feature your look! Enjoy.

Fashion Risktaker: Double Sided/Two-Tone Tights at Chanel Fall 2008

Chanel - double sided tights - fall 2008

Mark...my...words! I'm calling this THE next big accessory that Chanel churns out. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think it's going to be the next quilted bag...BUT I do think these double-sided tights are going to be one VERY copied accessory for the upcoming Fall/Winter seasons.  Do you dig? Seriously, I absolutely adore them. Would I sport them? You better believe it. I think they'll evoke either uber array of compliments or looks of complete confusion. One thing's certain, I'd walk confidently in them.

Do take notes, my avid readers, because I'll bet you some serious moolah that H&M and Forever 21 (and all the other retail giants that copy-cat Runway looks every season) will be ALL over this...in no time! So what do you say? Are you tempted to keep the double sided only to that tape that sits on that pretty lil' desk of yours? Not me...these are accessory I'm coveting as one of my winter staples! Love them! Enjoy!

Fashion Risktaker: Black Socks and Heels à la Burberry's Spring Collection

Burberry Spring Ads

Black Socks and Sandals on Burberry's Spring Runway

Ok...so I know this is something that is already HUGE in Europe (via my amazing European readers) but it just hasn't taken hold in the USA...yet! I love this little chic trend and I'm going to do my best to make it happen! Little lady-like socks in black with some badass strappy platform black sandals = rocker chic and totally cool!

As you can see, above, Burberry sported the look all over their Spring Runway Show and on their Spring Advertisement Campaign. We've shown you some looks donning socks/sandals before; HERE, HERE and HERE! And we've told you about our complete adoration for all things Agyness Deyn, HERE! Combine the two and you have Burberry's Spring Campaign and some chic looks from the Runway...all sporting black sandals with socks!

No speedy-savvy-stylin' needed! I'm quite certain you have a cute pair of pumps/sandals and some sporty lil' socks! Sport black on black for a more subtle take if you're a bit leery. So...as I'm heading to see a bit of SATC The Movie with my ladies this weekend, I might just venture out of the house, sporting this here, risk-taking trend. We all know that Carrie would've easily pulled if off...and I think you can too! Enjoy!
