Janette crawford for fashon loves people

Image from HERE

Readers, meet Janette Crawford, our newest Gorgeous Green Gal and yep, that's her pretty lil' self, above. She's an inspiring and amazing lady that I've actually had the pleasure of meeting. She heads up Fashion Loves People, a blog devoted to ethical fashion (we love, love, love it) and an apparel collection/collaboration (pics featured below and more on that HERE) of the same name.

She's a busy woman, dabbling in many creative outlets and we're smitten with both her creative work and amazing writing. She's talented beyond belief and has this gorgeous, natural glow to her (both in pictures and in real life.) We pride ourselves on knowing the up and up about green labels but Janette truly has the scoop way before anyone else.

Her posts are always so interesting, insightful and compelling. She inspires you to be a more informed shopper and just like what Food, Inc. did for our grocery shopping habits HERE, Janette does for our clothes shopping wish list.

Just to give you an idea, here's some sample post headlines from Janette's amazing blog are; AG Jeans, saving water & energy with Ozone Technology (article featured above and HERE), Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner Review (HERE), Sex and the City 2's Vintage Wardrobe (HERE) and With Benefits: SAWA Shoes (HERE). We hope you enjoy Janette's Fashion Loves People as much as we do and make sure to tell her that we sent you over to check it out!

Gorgeous Green Gal/Guy Award: I'm Tired of...Charity Bracelets

I'm tired of...bracelets

Recently, a friend of mine stepped out wearing a trio of THESE bracelets. With their charcoal grey lanyard and rustic silver finishes, they caught my eye right away. I realized I had no idea what brand/designer/type of bracelet they were. I asked. She told.

I'm so in the know now. I immediately knew this was something worth sharing. "I'm tired of..." charity bracelets are a great way to speak your mind, around your wrist. Basically, you're sharing with the world what you're tired of. Be it cancer, animal cruelty or child abuse (my top three)...there's a bracelet for you.

Eco-friendly and fashionable, $5 of every sold bracelet goes to a cause and the best part...you get to pick! The charcoal grey lanyard is actually recycled rubber tires..."I'm Tired"...get it? Genius. The large cylindrical metal bead is also made from recycled materials making this an uber green purchase, which our RWD family always supports making these charity bracelets our newest winner/creative take on our Gorgeous Green Gal Award! Golf claps to creators Don Hoffman, Carrie Pollare and Joseph Bortoli.

Maybe you have a Mother who loves to support causes...Mother's Day is this Sunday and an "I'm Tired of..." bracelet could be that creative and fashionable gift you've been searching for. I hope many of my readers are inspired and add this tiny message onto their pretty wrists/into their daily fashion routine pronto! Enjoy!

Gorgeous Green Gal: Tierra Del Forte for Del Forte Denim - Perfect Green Jeans

Gorgeous green gal - del forte denim are green jeans

We haven't chatted about any Green Good for a while.  Our last Green Gal, Summer Rayne Oakes, actually gave RunwayDaily a shout-out of thanks on her blog, HERE!  Cheers to that!  So today we're featuring Tierra Del Forte for Del Forte Denim. Probably a line that Oakes has even sported, a time or two. I've learned some amazing facts while browsing Del Forte's site.  Let me re-cap some of this green good...and who knows, it might just have you laying down your fave denim and picking up an organic pair of Del Forte's, pronto!

Non-Organic Cotton Goods:
- It takes 2/3 of a pound of pesticides to make one pair of jeans
- 1/3 of a pound to make a single T-shirt
- Five of the top nine pesticides used in cotton production in the US
(cyanide, dicofol, naled, propargite, and trifluralin)
   are known cancer-causing chemicals
- Pesticides have been responsible for birth defects, respiratory problems,
behavioral changes, infertility, sterility, and hormonal imbalances
- 60 percent of a cotton crop, by weight, enters the food chain in the
form of cottonseed oil which is used widely in processed foods,
and as cottonseed feed for cows

Organic Cotton Goods:
- Organically grown cotton has been produced without the use of
   chemical fertilizers and pesticides
- A field must be pesticide free for three years for the cotton to be
   certified organic
- (Organic field's) are safe for consumers, the farmers and workers who grow it
   and the natural environment
- Del Forte - "Organic is win-win for everyone. Customers love it,
ecologically responsible mills get rewarded, organic farms profit
and I get to feel good about the fabric I use."

How can we/you/me not support this?  And just a mention, the denim looks are ADORABLE, to boot! Glancing above, you can see the WIDE LEG cuties and cropped skinnies are a great way to add a pair of Del Forte's into your rotation. I earnestly hope this makes you think about your next denim purchase. It sure has shed a light on the situation for me. Even though most of our household products, cleaners and food are all organic...I just really haven't delved into organic clothing, as of yet. This might be the push I needed.  Enjoy and some speedy-savvy-organic denim-stylin' for you below!

Gorgeous Green Gal: Model and Activist - Summer Rayne Oakes

So a few days ago, I'm breezing through my newest issue of Allure and I stumble upon, wait...SOMEONE I've NEVER heard of! It took me by surprise and rocked my magazine reading afternoon. Here in front of me lay a gorgeous model whose environmental activism and killer curves has her becoming one natural force to be reckoned with. Let the research begin!

Her WEBSITE and PERSONAL BLOG are filled with a ton of info, shall you want to spend a bit of time delving into this gorgeous woman's incredible journey to make our planet a much greener place.

Straight from her site, she is described as nothing short of a SUPER-WOMAN. "Model, media host, speaker, writer, and brand strategist. She heads up SRO, a strategic consulting company focused on sustainable business strategies, market research, advertising and environmental communications."

Check out some incredible magazine covers she's been featured on, below. These were just a few of my favorite to show her diversity in front of the camera...she's had countless covers. Which is your favorite? And some of these magazine I've never even heard of, but since RunwayDaily household tries to be as green as possible, you better believe I'll be picking up a copy, or two!

Yes, this is one busy WOMAN and we always tip our hats to that! Keep an eye on this one as Discovery Network launches their new channel, Planet Green, in June of this year. Summer is slated to be one of the main correspondents/faces of the Channel. We here at RunwayDaily love to give kudos to fellow green-gals, like previous honoree Gisele Bundchen. We are a huge fan of yours, gorgeous Summer Rayne...and we think your name is just as beautiful as YOU!

Runway Daily's - Gorgeous Green Gal

Gisele Bundchen!! The allure of her Ipanema sandal ads is just on a whole new level of beauty and creativity! I love ALL THINGS Gisele (and all things 'Green') so this is just awesome! The 'water dress' is captivating and so very very Brazilian, beach-babe and all...plus how freaking cute are those wrap-arounds?! The model/designer's Ipanema sandals have created a cult following in South America ($100 million worth) and sold out in most retailers state-side. The thing I love most about this laid-back line of beach sandals is the fact that Miss Gisele is giving a portion of each sale towards protecting the Xingu River in Brazil...gotta love me today's Gorgeous-Green-Gal!
