How to Wear It: Muse of the Moment - Chic Maternity Style a la Jessica Alba

So naturally, I've been eye balling preggo celebs and how they don classic and chic looks. One of my fave Moms to watch is the uber stylish Jessica Alba. She's actually one of my newest muses and I love glancing through pics of her preggo self work some daring and sophisticated looks. Today I'm highlighting some of my fave ensembles she's recently stepped out in while carrying baby numero dos, Miss Haven Garner Warren. I'll give you a snippet of advice about why I like the look and how I'll try to re-create it via my own wardrobe!

Jessica-alba-4

Why I love it: Laid back and casual...this black, white and grey look is perfect for everyday wear and can even be dressed up later for a fancy dinner out.

How I'll emulate it: I already have the long black maxi skirt (HERE) so I'll just need to scoop up a new body hugging tank and a sheer grey shirt!

Jessica-alba-6

Why I love it: This is an uber smart cut/silhouette for any preggo. Love how the low cut top really shows off her 'girls' and the length elongates her figure. Also, the bright color blocking surely is eye catching.

How I'll emulate it: This is the exact maxi dress cut I'll be searching for in the coming months. Ultimately flattering for my non baby carrying figure, I'll surely show off my assets and cover up those certain areas too!

Jessica-alba-7

Why I love it: Again, a super flattering maxi. I love the cap sleeves and the print is super sexy too! Also, with a loud and daring print like this, you can keep your accessories super minimal.

How I'll emulate it: I'll make sure to bring out my wild side and look for an animal print maxi this fall.

Jessica-alba-8

Why I love it: One word...comfort! A flowing tank, blazer and trouser jeans look put together without trying to hard.

How I'll emulate it: I own all three of these pieces so I'll be certain to pair this combo together, come fall.

Jessica-alba-10

Why I love it: Leggings! I know these puppies will be a fall preggo staple for me. I love that Alba paired a black mini skirt over hers plus platform sandals for a sassy addition. And I'm a huge fan of sheer layered looks so this polka dot top steals the show.

How I'll emulate it: I'm a sheer lover (more on that HERE) and already have black leggings. As for the platforms...I think I'll stick to wedges or ballet flats but I certainly need to scoop up a stretchy and comfy black mini.

Jessica-alba-290-1

Why I love it: Again, Alba plays up layers to cover her growing bump. We love neautral casuals that will earn their wardrobe mileage. These basic pieces are where you want to spend extra moolah too!

How I'll emulate it: I'm all about layering and playing with lengths after years of living in Northern California. I can't wait to bust out my cool weather layers and play with their silhouettes and combine new combos too!

Jessica-alba-290-2

Why I love it: Love, love! After spying this image, I am on the mega search for the perfect off the shoulder breezy late summer dress. I just think this look is picture perfect, in so many ways!

How I'll emulate it: Show some shoulder! I have some great T's that I can sport off the shoulder and some striped shirts that can also do the trick. Showing a lil' shoulder is a great way to rev up your sex appeal without overdoing it.

Jessica-alba-290

Why I love it: Bold and daring! I don't really find myself being drawn toward maxi dresses in bold, strong prints but Alba shows us, it's a definite do. Even with her growing bump, this strong silhouette and daring print look adorable!

How I'll emulate it: A friend recently gave me a great bold printed maxi dress and I can't wait to sport it!

Muse of the Moment: Under $100 - Mila Kunis

Mila kunis

Mila Kunis has recently been knockin' it outta the park. Girl's got style for miles! Love how she pairs her t shirts with sassy skirts and pink pumps and then still looks adorable in an over-sized tank and jeans. Her ensembles for red carpet events are always on-trend, note worthy and the perfect silhouette for her petite frame. We love her love of black (cause the good Lord knows she looks striking in it) but also adore her in bright white too.

Lately, she can do no wrong in the fashion department and we wanted to celebrate her triumphs by deeming her our recent Muse of the Moment. Check out some Kunis-esque pieces below for under $100...cha-ching!

Muse of the Moment: Under $100 - Kim Kardashian

Muse of the moment - kim kardashian - 1

Muse of the moment - kim kardashian - 2

So why do we deem Kim Kardashian as our recent Muse? Oh dear, let me count thy ways. First of all, she's curvaceous, sexy and womanly and still rocks skin tight ensembles. Though her figure is envious, her wardrobe is what I truly covet. Impeccable personal style and chic accessorizing are key for Kim's look. She mixes classic and tailored with trendy and statement making.

The self professed style chameleon is boho/hippie chic one day and sophisticated/charming starlet the next. We love how, even though she plays with fashion trends, her makeup/beauty regimine stay the same. What are they? Sultry waves, nude lips and statement making eye makeup. We've hand picked some amazing pieces (all under $100) to get you going on your Kardashian-esque 2011 shopping. Enjoy!

Muse of the Moment: Drew Barrymore

Muse of the moment - drew barrymore

Images from HERE

We have recently been digging all of Barrymore's fashion choices so we knew we had to fit her in as this month's Muse of the Moment. Barrymore has always been one to charge forward by trying new trends, but we also adore her choice of feminine flair and lady-like silhouettes. Florals, sequins, blazers and plaid...you never quite know what to expect when it comes to Drew. One thing we adore, she mixes it up and never looks like she tried too hard. The girls knows how to dress her figure and we celebrate her confidence while exploring numerous trends.

We've handpicked some great pieces below (all under $100) that really trend towards Barrymore's aesthetic and style choices. We also just had to point out that the earth-toned sequined dress (left, middle row) is actually from a vintage store right here in Austin, Texas. Our Aunt Chris emailed us THIS link and asked if we had heard that Barrymore donned the red carpet in a $25 dress. We hadn't and thank her for the insider info. Even more reason why Barrymore lands in our coveted spot as August's muse. Enjoy and shop those pieces below!

Muse of the Moment: Audrina Patridge

Audrina patridge - muse of the moment

It seems only fitting that we feature one of The Hills girls today as our Muse of the Moment. Why? If you don't know then you aren't a die hard fan. Come on now! Tonight is the last episode ever of The Hills. I'd like to admit that I merely watch it for the wardrobe choices and drama. But to tell you the truth, I've loved the show since day one. Before we even had DVR, it was the one show I just couldn't miss. RWD Hubby will either a) patiently watch it with me b) comment galore on the some of the stupidity or c) read a book and sit on the couch with my while I watch it. Either way, he is pretty much 'in the know' when it comes to the deep plot lines (I kid, I kid) on The Hills.

You better believe I'll be hunkered down on the couch, with a big bowl of popcorn on my lap, gearing up for this epic season finale. As of recent, I've been absolutely adoring all of Audrina Patridge's ensembles. Back in her Justin Bobby days she was just a bit too rock-n-roll for me to handle, but now she mixes it up with pretty feminine looks and supreme Cali/laid-back chic. We've already featured Lauren Conrad as our Muse HERE, but Audrina's personal style choices are always so sexy, body con and alluring...so as not to be ignored or over shadowed. Really, I actually think I have a bit of a girl crush.

Want to get your hands on some key pieces that Audrina always relies on? Start by shopping the selection below (all under $100) and then constantly stick to rocker jeans, ha! Then add in some great loose tanks/T's and pair those with laid back leather sandals or sky high platforms/boots. That's the Patridge, go-to uniform and it totally works! We love how Patridge isn't afraid to show a bit of leg (the girl has got herself some great gams) or don some bright metallics too. Bravo Miss Patridge, we're totally diggin' your style! Keep it up and we can't wait to see what's in store for you, next.

We've always adored and watched design Charlotte Ronson and tried to emulated her awesome personal style. Today, is a first for Miss Charlotte, as we've deemed her our Muse of the Moment. Why? This lovely lady is so gifted with pairing sweet, feminine floral frocks with menswear or badass pieces. A studded belt and rose covered dress never looked so amazing!

Miss Ronson has impeccable execution and always looks great without looking like she spent hours in front of the mirror. An awesome knack for bright colors, tiny florals, simple black ensembles and great accessories...I adore her personal style for sure. We've mentioned our love for her JC Penny line HERE so you know we're already a fan. We've rounded up some amazing pieces below that we know she'd totally dig too! Muse of the Moment: Ashley Olsen

Ashley olsen - 1

Ashley - 2

Ashley Olsen is, and will always be, one of my favorite dressers to keep an eye on. Her continual use of black and white for fancy soirees is something that always grabs my attention. With a wardrobe overflowing with lady-like accessories and classic menswear pieces, Miss Olsen sure does know how to dress her petite frame. She dons floor-grazing hemlines to make her look taller and usually 95% of these  accentuate her tiny waistline. She's not afraid to wear cut-out pieces and she flirts with orange/red colored looks too.

Mostly, I'm here to highlight Olsen's personal style choices for red-carpet events because I think we can all take a note, or two. She doesn't aim to blend in with the crowd, but she constantly stands out. I love her long white gowns featured in the bottom collage and that bright orange dress in the top collage is to die-for! I've put together some pieces, below, via my speedy-savvy-stylin' that I think Miss Olsen would find as equally chic. Not to worry, they won't break the bank. They all come in under $100 and are so Olsen-esque...enjoy!

Muse of the Moment: Lauren Conrad

Lauren conrad - muse of the moment

Lately we've been chatting about SUMMER DRESSES and who better to be our most recent muse than Lauren Conrad, a lady who loves a good dress. Maxi, mini, sophisticated or lady-like...Miss Conrad always looks smashing in her dress choices. I also love that she sports leggings, skinny jeans and cute shorts/skirts quite frequently too. Why is she our recent muse? The way she pairs pieces together re-inspires even the most chic dresser to change...it...up.

Example? She was snapped matching her bright yellow flats to her adorable headband (above, bottom right). She sported the same ensemble below (middle) and mixed it up by pairing it with maroon heels, a sassy arm cuff and a new Chanel bag (must be nice). Yes, she's THAT lady that mixes and matches in brilliant ways! I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below that all rings in under $50. They're all pieces I could totally see Conrad sporting with style. Enjoy and bravo Miss Conrad. We sure will miss 'style stalking' you on The Hills.

Muse of the Moment: Jordana Brewster

Muse of the Moment - Jordana Brewster

Jordana Brewster is just ridiculously adorable. I screamed when she appeared on one of RD Hub's fave sitcoms Chuck. If I had a girl crush...she's be IT! Sporting stylish SPECTACLES (upper left), power suits and killer fighting tactics...I think she practically stole the spotlight from the always pretty, Yvonne Strahovski. You might also know Miss Brewster from the Fast and the Furious franchise or that Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror flick that scared me for weeks. Taking a moment to steer away from her career highlights, today we're going to focus on her fashion choices and I just love her style.

Glancing above, you see that Jordana is always the lady (you know we love that). From her tea length stunners to her continual obsession with BLAZERS...this actress knows how to dress the part. She never, ever looks overdone but always looks put together and fresh. I love her personal take on a few trends including those GLADIATOR sandals (bottom right). Yes...this lady-love deserves golf claps on so many levels.

But hey, when you're that gorgeous, it's hard to do wrong. I'm here to say that Jordana's fashion looks are oh so right. How to get her look? I've included some speedy-savvy-stylin' below with all pieces chiming in under $100. So no reason not to add a bit of Jordana flair (or shall we say, accessible glam) to your wardrobe pronto! Enjoy.

Muse of the Moment: Olivia Palermo from The City

Olivia

Ahhhhhh...you already know how much I love The Hills so I must admit MTV's newest 'Whitney Port' spinoff, The City, has garnered my adoration for sure! My love/hate relationship with Olivia Palermo is in full-swing. She's such the diva (witch with a B, much?) on the show but you must admit, the lady has a covetable wardrobe for sure.

Ladylike ruffles, bright colors and impeccable BLACK & WHITE, Miss Palermo isn't afraid to mix it up and try something new for all her red-carpet affairs. Maybe you're wondering what to wear out this weekend for your girls night...well, do click the assortment above. You're sure to find some sort of inspiration from Olivia's supremely put-together style. Enjoy!

Muse of the Moment: Meredith Melling Burke

Muse_of_the_moment_meredith_melling

So I know you might be saying to yourself, "Who is Meredith Melling Burke?" She's actually someone you are closer to than you even know! If you're an avid VOGUE reader like me...Meredith is one lady telling you what to wear next. She's their Senior Market Editor and has impeccable taste and killer style! Her wardrobe is drool-worthy (yes, I'm sure much of it is free or borrowed) but STILL!!! She puts pieces together that even I have not thought to do, as of yet. Let's take a close look at the collage above and let me tell you WHY I love me some Meredith Melling Burke...and her ensemble choices!

Moving right along, going left to right, top to bottom...let's get down to the nitty gritty, shall we? MAXI DRESS, leather bomber and a SKINNY BELT...love it! TURQUOISE scarf paired with a STRIPED shirt and WIDE-LEG white trousers is a sweet spin on Spring's nautical trend. The LONG VEST and champagne gown are a gorgeous combo for any soiree. Lastly, on the top row, another maxi dress paired with the Cali-cool SCARF...tres chic!

Row two starts of really strong with an OVERSIZED blazer and blue maxi...and are those GLADIATORS I see peeking out underneath? Me thinks so. The pretty, preppy and equestrian themed ensemble is next - FULL SKIRT and BELTED is positively adorable on her slender frame.

The next two looks on the second row are polished, pretty and FLORAL. In the first, my eyes are drawn to her SKINNY BELT and BOLD ACCESSORIES with the second look just showing that Burke is NOT afraid to take a daring fashion "chance" every once in a while! (PS - She got a ton of slack for this one, though.)

Only four more to go...please tell me you are you taking notes? Hope so! Ahhhhh, the next LADY-LIKE ensemble is one I just adore. It's perfect for lunching with the ladies or church-going with R.D. Hubby. The BIG FLORAL print and killer shade of GREEN create a perfect Spring/Summer palette.

Up next, I'm positive you know where I'm going with this one...PATTERNED TIGHTS and STRAP-HAPPY PLATFORMS take this whole look to another level. Burke looks adorable in her CROPPED grey jacket and blush pink dress. How about that STATEMENT NECKLACE around her neck too? Love it.

Lastly...I just wanted to show Meredith Melling Burke in a long black skirt and T-shirt combo! Her tight ponytail and perfect makeup make this one of the EASIEST 'to-do' looks from this entire collage. Remember, T-shirts are so chic and an easy thing to mix with high/low items and even for fancy Galas...they are still a "do!"

It's Monday and I had a fabulous weekend...so I'll do you ONE MORE FAVOR! I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below for your ultimate viewing pleasure. All items are pieces that are inspired by Meredith Melling Burke's wardrobe essentials. All pieces are under $50 so if you adore her looks as much as I do...no excuse to add an itty-bitty M.M.B. to your own personal wardrobe! My fave pieces from the grouping that would totally be added into constant rotation if I owned them all? I can honestly say, "Every...single...last...one! Yep, ALL fourteen pieces!"

Muse of the Moment: Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl Fame

Muse -

1. A guiding spirit

2. A source of inspiration

3. Any goddess presiding over a particular art

Muse_of_the_moment_leighton_meester

Leighton, Leighton, Leighton...how I covet your wardrobe! You look adorable in nearly everything! You know how to rock bright colors and soft hues...you choose killer accessories and show-stopping designer frocks. Your impeccable taste and risk-taking style have landed you as our most recent lady-love to watch for...and, most importantly, as today's Muse of the Moment! Now, let us take some time to dissect exactly WHY Miss Leighton Meester has been continually a-buzz on our stellar fashionista radar.

Looking at the above collage and moving clockwise; GILDED gorgeous accessories added the perfect touch to her Missoni ONE-ARMED frock of choice; perfect length...perfect fit...perfectly glam! Next up, we see she chose another amazing Missoni frock that plays nicely off her golden goddess tan!

Leighton makes a RAINBOW dress and studded flats look glam while also laid-back and casual chic. Ahhhh, next we see Miss Leighton is up-to-date on one of Spring/Summer's fave new trends: STARS!

Lastly, on the top row, she sparkled in a Yves Saint Laurent MUSTARD and FRINGED lady-like frock. Her under-stated accessories (small clutch, copper T-straps and delicate earrings) truly pull the look together, with impeccable elegance!

Right underneath that, we see Leighton has chosen a classic PENCIL SKIRT (one of R.D.'s Top TEN TIMELESS Wardrobe Essentials) with a RUFFLE-FRONT blouse and a BOLD COLORED PATENT LEATHER eye-catching red belt. Love...this...look! Next up, a precious black and white Jay Godfrey dress does then trick followed by a more casual ensemble by pairing a pastel ChloƩ blouse with 7 for All Mankind flared jeans. Pairing high and low...that's what we're all about here at R.D. too!

Yum, yum, yum...the next look is one of my faves! This MIRRORED Missoni skirt (see it on the Runway, HERE) made my jaw drop and paired with a tank, a BOLD orange clutch and killer heels...Miss Leighton makes my eyes sparkle! Only two more to go, stay with me!

Leighton looks absolutely ravishing in the cobalt blue Versace dress paired with a Felix Ray white patent bag and matching WHITE KICKS (she was even featured in THIS previous post)! Once again, she knows a go-to color of hers is 100% yellow and her STATEMENT MAKING YELLOW DRESS does the trick, once again!

Even though Leighton's fellow Gossip Girl, BLAKE LIVELY, turned our heads first as a Muse of the Moment...Leighton's supremely lady-like style and covetable wardrobe is something that sets the standards high for smart pairing and trend-setting style! This lady-love is one we can all learn from and emulate to create some supremely winning combinations! Cheers to you, the impeccable Miss Leighton Meester!

Muse of the Moment: Emma Watson

Muse -

1. A guiding spirit

2. A source of inspiration

3. Any goddess presiding over a particular art

Muse_of_the_moment_emma_watson

Our former RunwayDaily Muses have ranged from Blake Lively to Sarah Michelle Gellar...both are supremely perfect to check out for party-frock inspiration! Today's Muse, is by far, the youngest!!! All three perfectly portray the essence of a lady...but Emma Watson (better known as Hermione in the five Harry Potter installments) is elegantly budding into a perfectly-poised, Chanel-sporting beauty! She is P-R-E-C-I-O-U-S!

The 17-year old cutie has recently been rumored to be the new 'face' of Chanel, but for now...we are, indeed, perfectly happy just seeing her galavant around at red-carpet events in pint-sized couture accouterment via Karl Lagerfeld's whimsical ingenuity.

Taking a peek at the above collage, you will see that Emma Watson can surely hold her own on the red-carpet fashion circuit. Eight of the ten looks are definitely Chanel. How captivating and ravishing does she truly look? Though she's 'all lady' in the knee length party frocks, I also really like her in the two skinny-jean ensembles...a rocker-chic side of Emma works well.

In a time where the Spears sisters are getting so much attention for all that they do WRONG...I'd love to shine some light on a young woman/actress who seems to do so much RIGHT in our eyes and has fashion sense that projects timeless class and precedes her young age! Golf claps to Emma!

Muse of the Moment: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Muse -

1. A guiding spirit

2. A source of inspiration

3. Any goddess presiding over a particular art

Muse_of_the_moment_sarah_michelle_g

There is something so intoxicatingly REAL about Sarah Michelle Gellar. Maybe it's the fact that she relatively stays out of the limelight and seems to have a rather successful 'hollywood' marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. But what truly garners our attention is the way in which Sarah Michelle Gellar steals the show, each and every time, she makes an appearance. It doesn't even matter if this gal is shopping...she ALWAYS looks good doing it.

Her style, supremely lady-like, is something other starlets strive to emulate but widely miss. To me, she's the difference between what my mother used to describe to me as 'new' and 'old' money...Gellar falling into the latter category...always carrying herself with class and elegance.

Her wardrobe, highlighted above, is a flurry of blacks, greys, tans and neutrals on many days...but I just had to throw in some STUNNING colorful choices she's also worn so well. You see, she's stepped out in a killer NAVY mini, a CRISS-CROSS white stunner, a BUBBLE-hemmed grey goodie, some flirty RED kicks and numerous waistlines CINCHED to perfection. At this time of year, as we all scramble to find the flirty frock that will make us stand out in a sea of LBD's...take a cue from stunning Sarah Michelle Gellar. Notice her dichotomous look; a subdued palette mixed with vibrant, dazzling accessories OR a striking frock or ensemble paired with simple staples. These two combos always let forth the radiance of her beauty shine bright! Isn't this truly what we're all after?

Muse of the Moment: Blake Lively

Muse -

1. A guiding spirit

2. A source of inspiration

3. Any goddess presiding over a particular art

Introducing Blake Lively...our current Muse of the Moment! You remember her first from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and you know her NOW from CW's cult-sensation and killer on-tv wardrobe in Gossip Girl. This stylish gal's sense of fashion doesn't stop when leaving the office, per say! Oh no, no, no! Lil' miss Blake has a sophistication and glam that serious starlets covet and try to emulate but...never...get...right! She does it with ease. Everything about Blake is RIGHT in my book. A quick glimpse and you'll see she continuously chooses a palette that's subdued; blacks, black/white, cream, all white...but still she sparkles and shines, carrying her own with elegant style. She was sporting this long scarf way before other starlets mentioned in a previous post and yep, you knew I was gonna say it next...she's been known to rock a skinny belt, or two, too! So golf claps all around to our Blake...we fell in love with you long ago but are ECSTATIC your style is making waves and garnering adoration from classy women everywhere! Bravo Miss Blake!
