You know I love a good movie so guess what I finally saw a few night's ago? Yep, finally...The September Issue and readers, it did not let down. I absolutely loved it...on my list of to-buy's for sure. I could watch it over and over and over again. I learned even more about the fashion industry and loved seeing how much actually does go into the making of Vogue's yearly september issue. One that we all know is jam packed with fashion, beauty and advertisements.
I had a good girlfriend in town for a few days and she's one of my most fashionable friends. I knew the perfect quiet night for the two of us (RWD Hubby was out of town) would be a bottle of champers and renting The September Issue. I was shocked when she hadn't seen it either but it made the viewing party even more exciting for the two of us.
We literally paused the movie every ten minutes to discuss something we saw, ask questions or point out annoyances. Seriously...although the movies run time is only 90 minutes, I'm quite certain we tacked on 30 or more for these aforementioned fashion discussions. It was literally girl's night heaven.
I must mention there was something that caught our attention...THE Ann Wintour sporting the same orange sapphire necklace over and over and OVER again! Truly, it was exhausting to watch. I'm all about loving, sporting and donning those key fave pieces over and over again...but a piece this statement making and obvious? Hmmm, it seemed rather bizarre to me. I won't even mention that we later learned she has the same piece in multiple hues. I find this a bit boring...do you?
Yes, this is my open letter to Anna Wintour as I'm actually going to take it upon myself to style her pretty and suggest some other great necklace options for her to delve in to. She can/should either a - retire this goodie or b - mix in other pieces but and/or c - possibly put the orange gems in time out, at least for a little while. The orange version seemed to be her fave pick of all the hues she owns of this same classic necklace design that I'm going to guess is possibly H. Stern.
Fab Anna options below that naturally chime in at $500 or more. Sweet readers, if you haven't feasted your eyes upon what I think is one of the greatest fashion documentaries I've ever seen...race to Blockbuster, queue it on Netflix or just pick it up for a $1 at Redbox (our choice) but do make sure to see this documentary. A true sartorial masterpiece...enjoy! Oh and don't even get me started on Grace Coddington. I have such a fashion crush on that superb lady!
