You know how much I love hearing from our readers and also a challenge. So today's Reader Request combines both of those worlds but I'm certain it's a post we'll all find helpful. Leslee F is in dire need of a wardrobe upgrade as she transitions from stay-at-home Mom to working woman. This is what I recently heard from Leslee via email:
Ok RunwayDaily, I need advice.
You're the first person I thought of when I went 'google-ing' fashion advice. I don't know how to start- basically I am about to start a new career (in a few months full-time) as a 4th grade Montessori teacher and have no wardrobe to speak of.
This is my first time as a full-time working woman and I'm already becoming stressed on my looks. I'm coming to you for advice on possible looks, pieces, stores, styles, fittings...etc. I have a few months, so there is no hurry, but financially I know I am taking on a big project and want to be smart about it. I'm not sure where to begin, but a lot of help is needed. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks and take care of that baby maker! Leslee
So naturally, before getting to today's goodies, we're going to take a trip down memory lane. I dug back into the depths of some former posts and wanted to share some highlights and I think everyone should go back and read through. Even I'm checking them out because you can never have too many reminders of classic stye. These will be super beneficial for Leslee as she navigates all those sale racks and figures out what her working woman look really is.
Here are a few posts I think Leslee will garner some info on collecting those classic wardrobe staples that will give her wardrobe a solid base:

Advice: Dark wash cuffed jeans, a collared shirt and ballet flats should all be a staples in your wardrobe. Add one of fall/winter's fierce jackets and you have a great ensemble for the fall through spring months.

Advice: A neutral colored maxi skirt will provide the coverage you need for a teaching job but also be a fashion forward piece that you can sport year round. Pair it with a blazer and slouchy T for instant chic.

Advice: We love the idea of pairing neutrals together all year long. Opt for that perfect fitting pair of slacks (maybe even opt to have them tailored to perfection) and sport it with your fave heels and sweater. In the spring/summer months, you can switch out the sweater for a scoop neck T.

Advice: Black pants and a blue blazer are always a chic and timeless look. You can pair it with your favorite striped shirt and comfy heels. Also opt for bold accessories that stand out since this is such a monochromatic and classic look.

Advice: Teacher's don't need to look stuffy and corporate, opt for color...bright, fun color. We love the mix in this look but pair those cuffed dark wash jeans and striped shirt with a bold pair of flats and bright cardigan.
