Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Military Inspired Jackets for 2010 and My Top 5 Under $100

Jacket Round-up from the Spring 2010 Runway Shows:

Aquilano.Rimondi

Aquilano Rimondi

Love this look because I adore all white ensembles and I love how the nude peep-toe booties and strong black belt are unexpected additions. That fluttery skirt paired with that structured military jacket is a great way to balance masculinity and femininity in one look.

Balmain

Balmain

I'm such a sucker for anything Balmain. I think we've covered their looks a million times on RWD with some of my fave posts being HERE and HERE. This look above is so stylish, laid-back and perfect for any outing. Date night? Check! Dinner with the girls? Check! An easy way to emulate the look is to pair your military jacket with a same hued tank, dark/black pants and a great pair of strappy sandals.

MaxMara

MaxMara

All military inspired jackets don't have to be heavy and cumbersome. This lightweight sweater wrap has fabulous appeal for all year long. I love the pairing of silk cargo pants and creamy colors too.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs

Supremely feminine and oh so fun, Jacobs' take on the military jacket is pure perfection. Gobs and gobs of wants and lusts in this look. Those perfect summer-worthy sandals...that frilly under skirt...choker-esque scarf...and a take everywhere bag. Just like the look above from Aquilano Rimondi, cinching the waistline with a belt is a great way to add curves to this boxy piece.

Richard Chai Love

Richard Chai Love

Yum, yum...again, I'm lusting for every piece. Sparkly, sequin shorts paired with that favorite comfy T and a great pair of peep toe booties round it all out. If you look closely, this military inspired piece has some anorak qualities. Which take notes on that, readers as the anorak (with/without some military flair) is one of spring hottest pieces HERE.

RWD's Top 5 Military Jackets:

Br743032-01vliv01

Banana Republic Cotton Military Jacket for $98

Kohl's LC Lauren Conrad Military Jacket for $39.99

Express Double Breasted Military Jacket for $79.50

Sears New Look Anorak Jacket for $19.99

Sears Jenny B. Military Jacket with Buttons for $19.99

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: RWD in Walmart Fashion by Miley Cyrus & Max Azria

Related Posts with Thumbnails

This might seem like a very unexpected post but believe me, this needs to be shared. So recently I've been cruising into Walmart to pick up some frames for CasaCullen HERE and also spent some time checking out their new Hometrends Collection HERE. While shopping around I remembered I wanted to make it over to the clothing department and take a peek at the new pieces from the Miley Cyrus & Max Azria collection.

If you're a devoted reader you might remember that I mentioned it HERE on RWD last August and highlighted some great pieces. Man, am I ever glad I took the time to look because this savvy shopper returned home with six awesome pieces. I just had to share these deals with you right away! So starting first with the pieces that I own and adore, I'll give you a run-down of Walmart's new thrifty and fashionable line.

Here I am below recently sporting their adorable racer back tank at a yoga fest I attended and their buffalo cinch top at the Austin Rodeo. I love that this collection actually fits my curves and you can't beat the price tag either! The image quality in the yoga pic isn't the best because I was showing off my new henna via an iPhone pic. But I'm sure you get the idea...uber cute tank and buffalo shirt, right? Read on, readers.

RunwayDaily sporting the Miley Cyrus and Max Azria from Walmart copy

Obviously, these are not uber high quality garments but they are a great way to add a spunky new piece or two to your wardrobe without breaking the budget. They fit my figure quite well and I'm usually a 4/6...just to give you an idea I usually purchase size L because they are Junior sizing.

Sometimes Junior lines look horrible on me but this one hit the spot. Plus, they are ridiculously cute and easy to pair with each other or other items you already own! Enjoy and hope you also scoop up a few pieces too as I'm about to order the long sleeve light denim shirt! And a quick fun fact...if you ordered every piece online below, guess how much the GRAND TOTAL would be? Around $105 for nine fabulous pieces! I dare you to find a better deal than that!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Black Peplum Pieces

Related Posts with Thumbnails

Black peplum pieces on the fall 2010 runway

I have to admit, even though it's spring, I'm already getting you geared up for fall. That's what we do best here, around RunwayDaily! We like to spot the trends for you before they emerge. So what do you need to keep your eyes peeled for? A black peplum piece. They were all over the fall 2010 runways and I just have to share the good news now.

This week is a bit special for RWD. It's our fourth anniversary and today I mentioned one of my gifts for the hubby over on our sister site CasaCullen (HERE). I'll be sporting an adorable black peplum piece for our dinner date night and if you take a glance down at my speedy-savvy-stylin'...I'd say it's most like French Connection Crepe Effect Dress from Asos. It'll be the first time I've worn it and I'm so excited to rock it for sure.

Take some cues from the runway looks above and emulate a peplum look soon. One thing I just have to point out is that Michael Kors is a genius. He actually created a leather peplum belt (in the image above) and that's his version of this creative silhouette. I want that belt! Also, the jacket version at Karl Lagerfeld is drool worthy and I'm actually loving the William Rast version in my stying below.

There is a wide range of peplum pieces in spring hues too. I've seen a multitude of floral dresses and pastel colored frocks on my recent shopping excursions that include a sweet peplum pop. So scoop up a more spring appropriate color too. But you know me, I rock black all year long, without even batting an eye. It's always so timeless, chic and hides wrinkles quite well too, ha! Enjoy and get to peplum shopping, pronto!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Mixed Denim Ensembles for Spring

Related Posts with Thumbnails

Mixed denims for spring

Mixed denim is making a huge comeback. Seriously, I was just chatting with a girlfriend and we were both dying laughing that one of her recent dates showed up in acid wash denim jeans...and matching jacket. Now that's just taking it a bit too far. Plus, I don't think you should aim to match your mixed denim. Throw on a pair of acid washed skinnies with a dark denim vest. Or mix your baggy boyfriend jeans with an light wash button down.

When mixing and matching your denim, remember to take cues from the great inspirational combos above. My fave...def the D&G look. I love, love it so much and will attempt to emulate soon. I've also added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below with all the great denim pieces I can find under $100. There are some serious deals to be had out there.

Look below, see the AE Denim Vest for $39.50? I have one very similar (a vintage Levi's) and readers, it gets some serious wardrobe rotation. I just sported it this past Saturday with some dark denim skinnies to catch a movie. So yes, even I'm diving in and mixing my denim. Go get em, mix master and enjoy!

I love how sexy, stunning and festive the color is for this time of year. And what's even better when you're shopping for Holiday dresses is to find a great deal.  No worries, I've got you covered.

Below you'll find a plethora of gorgeous gowns all coming in under $100. Some are short and sexy, some are long and flowing...but all will be alluring and noticeable in the sea of black. Enjoy!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Laid Back Summer Style on the Streets of Mallorca

Europoean summer style

Ok, I swear...this is one of my last summer fashion posts but a - I couldn't resist these cruisy looks and b - I just don't want summer to end. The spanish island getaway of Mallorca is the backdrop for today's real style feature. Sun worshippers and laid back casual looks are what women tend to sport in this everyday heaven. Glancing above, I'd love to mention a few notes on why these six looks were deemed my top fave from the streets and beaches of Mallorca.

1. Show a little shouler in your striped t-shirt...cut off the neck and pair it with your fave denim shorts.

2. I seriously WANT this entire ensemble...ethnic and pretty dress, stunning thongs and pefect watch/shades!

3. That hat...that bag...that dress...that color red (on fingers and toes)...not much this lady love can do wrong, in my fashion loving eyes.

4. Black and white perfection...check the matching bag. For some reason, it's not too much or overkill in my eyes. Plus I love the sleek headband and big sunnies...so Jackie O.

5. Now this is probably what I'd sport on a daily basis. Fave T, best cutoffs and perfect white flops...the roomy straw beach bag rocks too! If you were wondering if this cutie was a local...you're absoltuely RIGHT!

6. Again, I just love the entire look. A layered tank under a breezy dress, a huge beach bag, perfect face-framing sunnies and most of all, those beaded sandals!

So, as summer wraps up I'll only be posting a few more times on looks appropriate for warmer temps. Shortly, fall looks will flood RWD and we'll have to wait yet another 6 months to bust out those itsy bitsy bikinis...just trying to enjoy/soak up every last minute of it! Enjoy!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Accessories - Big, Bold and Bright for Summer

Big bold jewelry on the runway

If someone handed me a petite, tiny and ladylike pair of diamond studs or the biggest, boldest and flashiest chandelier earrings...I'd go with the latter, every-time. I love big and bold. I love bright and statement making. I'm pumped to see the Spring, Fall and Resort Runways chock full of statement making jewels. They scream, 'the bigger the better!' And that, my dear readers, is my summer motto! (Not in pants size, but in earring diameter, for sure!) Some speedy-savvy-stylin' below with everything coming in under $150 to get your online shopping fingers click, click, clickin' away. Think of it as a quick way to spruce up last year's tunic or a great addition to that hot LBD lying dormant in your closet. Enjoy!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Mad for Mosaic à la Ginnifer, Becki and Angelina

Ginnifer, becki and angelina in mosaic print dresses

I love anything and everything mosaic. Enamel jewelry, killer scarves, long caftans and eye catching dresses all come in incredible mosaic prints and I absolutely adore them. Just yesterday RWD Hubby and I were racing through the Orlando, FL airport and I noticed the gorgeous mosaic tiles on the ground and told him how pretty I thought it was. It got me thinking about the print used in fashion and voilà we have this here awesome post.

I love how the three ladies above are wearing gorgeous mosaic print frocks and remember to keep the rest of the look simple and understated. Let the tiled goodness shine bright by keeping the accessories minimal. I've provided some speedy-savvy-stylin' below. I'm in love with the Mosaic Dangle Earrings for $14 from Swell (can't beat that price) and the Tory Burch 'Julia' Silk Jersey Dress would be a great Summer Date Night dress as it's sure to turn heads. Enjoy and be sure to add a mosaic piece to your Summer 2009 lineup!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Stylish Organic Pieces to Celebrate Earth Day

(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to Buy!)

Happy Earth Day 2009! This is definitely going to be short and sweet as little Zola and I are heading out the door to ride bikes (earth friendly), go to the beach and enjoy an al fresco lunch at one of my favorite raw foods cafe! Yes, it's all about appreciating Mother Nature today. I just wanted to point out some of my favorite new finds that have the green-worthy stamp of approval...organic! How bright, fun and eye-catching for summer is the Gypsy Maxi Dress? Love it! I'm also lusting after Martin + Osa Watercolor Graphic Tee too.

I've done some quick ensemble styling below with some of my fave casual pieces from above. Ya know, just playin' a lil' game of 'dress me up' for what, if given the chance, I'd actually choose to wear on my outdoor adventure today. Laid back and casual, trendy and practical...plus all the pieces are organic! What more can a nature loving girl ask for? Enjoy and celebrate our gorgeous Earth!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: 16 Chic Spring Pieces Under $25 - Courtesy of Sale at NY&C

1 - ny&co sale sign

Received this New York and Company flyer in my inbox this morning and took a second to check out the SALE goods. I'm a girl that loves a good sale and this is a GREAT one! I just couldn't resist oogling at so many pieces and knew I had to 'share the wealth' right away!

I've already scoped out some trendy, chic and very inexpensive purchases to add to my wardrobe. I'm hoping you'll be able to do the same. So make sure to click HERE for more info on NY&C's Clearance sale...limited sizes so don't delay. I don't shop at NY&C very frequently but as we are all becoming more budget minded...a recession friendly purchase (or two) is a great way to anxiously await some fabulous goodies in the mail.

Also, take notice that SO MANY PIECES from NY&C's jewelry selection is buy one, get one 50% off. Steal, much? Plus...just so you believe me, I've styled four ensembles below that are Spring-worthy indeed. Every piece shown is under $25 and many less than $15. My fave piece...(too many to say) but I really have my eye on that Starfish Necklace for $24.95. I personally know how much time went into today's fashionably chic post...hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Pretty Pastels

Pastels on the fall 2009 runway

Pretty Pastel Pieces Under $100:
(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to Buy!)

Seriously, I'm on the hunt for some stellar pastel goodies. Easter is right around the corner and the decor at every store is overflowing in light shades so I thought this post was perfect timing. Maybe you glanced at the four inspirational looks above and assumed Spring 2009? Wrong. These looks are straight from the Fall 2009 runway shows...pastels are timeless and seasonless. Paired with black and grey in the Fall/Winter, they add a fresh touch of feminine spirit. Obviously the colors are perfect for ladylike fun all Spring/Summer long, too.

I've also added some speedy-savvy-stylin' above. All pieces are under $100 and supremely adorable. I just love the Yochi Pastel Tiered Stone Necklace...I want it NOW! I'd pair it with a white tank, the floral Urban Renewal Remnant Pencil Skirt from Urban Outfitters and some nude heels for a light and airy look. I'm keeping it short and sweet today...racing out the door for some Easter basket goodie shopping and might just make a short stop at our Urban to graze through their pastel picks. Enjoy!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Affordable Rocker Chic/Biker Babe Pieces à la the Fall Runway

Rocker chic on the fall 2009 runway

Anyone who knows me KNOWS that I love/don some serious Rockstar ensembles but I tend to not splurge in the money department. Low-priced rocker/biker looks are very easy to find. As the economic recession is in full swing (in case you didn't know, ha!) I'm more price conscious than ever and want to show you similarly styled looks are still so affordable and chic.

Though I do cave in at times and invest in expensive classic pieces...I love to merely find inspiration from the Runway. Many times these trendy Runway pieces are way out of my price range so I gather these up at more affordable prices/retailers (re: Kohl's, H&M, Target, etc).

Today I've provided a collage of six different looks that just ooze cool from the Fall 2009 Runway. The looks represent an intoxicating array of leather, worn in jeans, studs, grommets, flashy fedoras and killer kicks. What is there not to love? I've also provided some speedy-savvy-stylin' below. All pieces are under $50...no huge hit to the wallet.

Also be sure check out the video of Ford Model Alejandra in the Kohl's dressing room...love it. She's putting together an ensemble for an upcoming concert and I couldn't help but notice some of her chosen pieces are VERY similar to the ones I also laid out for you. Enjoy and let out your inner Rock & Roll babe today!

Wanting/Wishing/Wearing: Lush Velvet Pieces for Fall

Velvet on the fall 2009 runway

Today, I deem velvet one of Fall's hottest new fabrics...mark my words. Evoking images of royal glam, velvet is a fabric that has been out of the limelight for some time. The resurgence of the extremely soft luxury pastime (insert images of little red velvet Christmas dresses that always made me feel so pretty) has me all giddy with excitement. But, the look is hard to pull off and can really look like a hot mess at a Medieval fair if done wrong.

No fear, some supreme examples above. I'm loving the long blue maxi at Tibi and the Ralph Lauren/Marc Jacobs looks are a way to stand out at any cocktail party. Love them! Seriously...I have only one velvet piece in my entire wardrobe, pathetic. One thing you can bet on: this girl will have more additions before Fall rolls around. It's warm, cozy and very photogenic...what more can a fashionista ask for? Enjoy!
