Gold Star Celeb Style - Katie Holmes

Gold Star Celeb Style - wearing the Runway trends before every other starlet. Celebs have some of the best stylists in the business to dress them eagerly on a day-to-day basis. So at times, I find it hard to reward these great style choices by only naming the celeb, because most likely, there was someone else 'helping out.' BUT there are also those certain stars who just continue to oooze style on a regular basis...earning them the coveted Gold Star. One of these stylish starlets is Katie Holmes. Though her style-transformation has played out for all the world to see, she does just keep getting brighter in our book. Here we see her in casual attire, but the thing that stands out most to Runway Daily is the fact that Katie is wearing pieces we've been telling you about the last few weeks. Colors and cuts found on the Spring Runway shows in New York, London and Milan. The classic white wide-legged pants, leather vest and bright yellow bag is a gorgeous ensemble that creates such a feel for casual and laid-back glamour. Bravo Katie, you earned our Gold Star of Style by following our suggestions for signature style to a T! We even start to ponder if you might be a reader, wink wink!

New York, London and Milan Fashion Week: In"vest" - It's Going No Where!

If you don't know yet, you must be hiding under a ROCK! Vests are one of the hottest trends for the fall, and guess what!??!? They are here to stay till springtime. The Runways are continuing to overflow with vests and that's why I'm telling you right now, this is sure-fire piece that you should go ahead and invest in, pronto! (all puns intended) Numerous designers showed the classic menwear inspired trend...but some branched out and got more creative for spring; crocheted, long-and-lean, sweater-style, cropped or ruffled...you really can't go wrong. Go thrif shopping or hit the sale racks for fall's leftovers...take it from me, vests are your go-to accessory to spice up even the simplest ensemble all season(s) long! I'll hook you up with some Savvy-Stylin' a bit later, so be SURE to check back soon!

Milan Fashion Week - Bringin' the 80's Back: A Skorty Spin

Soooo, Milan is just chock-full of 80's fashion...first the shoulder pads and now a new spin on the 'skort!' So, for all you ladies out there, who sported all the WILD 80's trends, don't even ACT like you didn't rock these. I can seriously remember owning about ten 'skorts' and interchanging the leggings for a mix-and-match effect. I sported them casually with high-top Converse, chukka-boot Vans or THE Classic Reebok and...dare I say:

I...THOUGHT...I...LOOKED...SEXY...AT...TWELVE!

Well style-guru, Giorgio Armani, brought the sexy back, again, at his Milan Fashion Week Emporio Armani show. Models took to the runway in an array of subdued colored full skirts with matching knickers underneath. I don't find it flattering on a woman at all and if my memory serves me correctly, it was more a children's trend back in the days...except for maybe, Cyndi Lauper!?!?!? Oh well, welcome back 80's! Watch for this one to possibly TAKE OFF!

Milan Fashion Week - One Arm Wonders

As I'm looking through some of the wonderful Collections that have sauntered down the Milan Runways, naturally my eyes are drawn to any trends and subtle reoccurence. The flashing of 'one arm' was obvious and caught my attention right away. Four different designers have presented Collections that included at least ONE look with ONE bare arm. Bizarre? To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel just yet. I think the La Perla piece in the upper left is just gorgeous and Missoni's take on the 'one arm bare' in the upper right just screams springtime. Keep an eye on this one, but I wouldn't go cutting arms off your long-sleeved frocks just yet! As usual, you can click the image to see the bigger picture.

(role)Model Style

What do we have here? More gorgeous models, on their down-time, between shows and preparing for the catwalk. I love models and their casual-glam style. Their amazing bags, glowing skin and oh so perfect pouts. With this fabulous grouping of gorgeous gals, I have to take time to point out some particulars to all of you...take notes! Notice the statement necklaces we spoke about earlier on Vlada Roslyakova (upper left) and Irina Kulikova (bottom left) and Viviane Orth (bottom right)...on a small scale, but the only jewelery present in their ensemble. I love the worn-out converse and high-waisted cuffed jean shorts that Alison Nix (upper center) is sporting...can't say I like what's in her hand though. How about long black cardigans?!?!? Anja Rubik (upper right) off-sets hers with a camel-colored bag while Miss Irina (bottom left) pairs hers with her take on the ol' morning cup-o-joe. DEF a girl after my own heart, love me some Frappacinos. Isabell Fontana and Izabel Goulart (bottom center) look smokin' HAWT in their take on the bibbed blouse and off-the-shoulder frock. Here's to show you, RunwayDaily's trends can be seen on and OFF the runway!

Fashion Risktaker: Are you Padded?

Shoulder-padded, that is! I seriously can remember the days of sneaking up to my room, scissors in hand, right before Easter Sunday church service and quickly cutting out the hideous shoulder pads that rocked every frock in the 80's/early 90's! Well, they are back...but I think I like them this go-round! They give all women a very feminine look and really, well, bring out their shoulders. The look was seen on the Fall 2007 Runway as seen below...and have since made an obvious second appearance for Spring 2008. Are they here to stay? I can't be sure, but I'm positive you would get some serious attention if you sported a frock with BIG SHOULDERS. Or, you can buy these and put them under anything! I honestly think I'll be doing this...it's only a matter of time before the Olsen sisters have HUGE shoulders off-setting their tiny frames!

Milan Fashion Week - Get Your Neon On!

So, as stated yesterday, Milan Fashion Week is in FULL swing and the Collections are beyond GLAM. Twelve of sixteen collections have chosen to show pieces with NEON hues...some more subtle than others, some in the form of accessories, but WOW...Madrid Runways are seriously a-glow with neon. Bright hues make a statement but also can be down-played if in accessory form...this subdued approach was presented in Collections by Pollini and Etro. Or, like Burberry Prorsum and Jill Sander, WOW the crowd and send out complete looks that electrify! So tell me, would you wear this daily? If not, definitely invest in one neon piece to accentuate your wardrobe...c'mon, let's get our neon-fix, asap! You'll glow all season long!

(SUNGLASSES PLEASE...MORE NEON LOOKS!)

CYEBT - Can You Even Believe This? Marc Jacobs Charm Packs Some Heathrow Heat

This is amazing actually...I still can't believe it. My glory story on this subject: so about a year ago, I was leaving home to visit my parents and my wonderful husband informed me that the 'ban' had been lifted on lip glosses and I could now carry them 'worry free' without a ziplock-bag around them! WOO HOO! I packed up all 20 (no lie) and threw them in my carry-on...I have four words for you: THEY...TOOK...THEM...ALL! Every last gloss, boo hoo! So, I have dealt with airport confiscation before and am NOT too keen on it! But this I can actually understand. British authorities seized Tokyo-based Australian fashionisto Jason Coates black patent-vinyl Marc Jacobs gun-shaped handbag charm. Poor guy, he must've been SUPAH sad to part with his fake glock (did I really just type that). Lesson learned, leave all gun-shaped charms at home before flying!

CYEBT - Can You Even Believe This?

Milan Fashion Week is starting and these bilboards are all over Milan!!!! Wow, right? Seriously, this ROCKS!!! Do you find it too graphic? I do, just an itty-bitty-bit...BUT, I love that Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani is NOT afraid to push the limit and truly convey what a horrible disease anorexia is and what it can do to people. We all know the issues the fashion industry has always had with anorexia...I tip my hat to Toscani, graphic or not.

New York and London Fashion Week: Take It Off

Well...take it off, both shoulders, that is! Recent Fashion Week Runway Shows in New York and London have produced some serious sass for clavicle and shoulder baring looks. Models careened down, perfectly poised, with a polished presentation...and for me, there's just something sophisticated and feminine about these peeping shoulders. It's seductive in a way that exudes sex and simplicity (fashion tip: nearly ALL off-the-shoulder looks should be worn sans necklace). Plus, in the last few days, I've already spotted many starlets who have jumped on the "TEAM - Take It Off" bandwagon...make sure to check those out below, with the trend obviously leaning towards the color RED, channeling Derek Lam's gorgeous frock below! Get your shopping shoes on as I've included some amazing off-the-shoulder finds...click to see the bigger picture for each!

Real-Life Runway: Jessica Biel

So what do we have here?!?!?! The hottie that she is, Miss Jessica Biel (sans JT, darn) at TRL sporting one fresh fall Missoni frock. Biel's pairing of the gown with subtle makeup, minimal jewelry and nude heels is classy and elegant BUT I feel it doesn't do her smokin' bod ANY JUSTICE! Agree? The dress, featured in Missoni's Fall 2007 Runway was worn by Marina Pres and I have to say that if this were a competition for 'who wore it better' ... I'd give it to the MARINA!!! Her waist is accentuated wonderfully with that awesome belt (see, goes to show you what 'cinching' a waistline can do for a figure) and her grey tights really play off the subtle grey hues in the dress. The belt also provides a wonderful accent for bringing out the brown tones in the dress and her long and flowing hair gives the whole ensemble a more boho-chic feel. Who won in your book? I must say they both look amazing and I'm sure Missoni was loud and proud about Biel choosing this rockin' frock for her appearance on TRL!

London Fashion Week: Crazy Whacky Cool

London, for me, has some of the most creative and cutting-edge design forces in the world. Shopping in London is a thrill and I always return home with really 'different' pieces top accentuate my wardrobe. London encourages me to step outside the box and dress more for myself and less for others. British rocker-punk has always seemed to be a step-ahead of everyone else...and so many designs just 'oooze' cool! I wanted to share some tremendously cutting edge pieces that took to the Spring Runway Shows. Some are just whacky and weird, I know. But the clothing construction used for these pieces is what is pure genius. Take them for what they are...creative 'art' in a moving form.

London Fashion Week: Character Corral

Seriously, these London designers must have been watching Disney movies or reading comic books when seeking inspiration for their 2008 Spring Collections. I'm giggling, just a wee-bit, as some of the 'character matchings' are dead on. It does indeed bring me back to my childhood fantasy world and Halloween costumes of my younger years...how about you? My fave, by far, Snow White! More London Fashion Week to come!

Label Lust: Camilla and Marc

Camilla and Marc, Camilla and Marc, Camilla and Marc...commit that to memory! A gorgeous Australian brother and sister design-duo that is turning some serious heads. Their Spring/Summer 2007 Collection allowed the designer's to branch out and create a sporty asthetic but with still strong touches of their usual flair for femininity. This Collection is really intriguing but my love for all things Camilla and Marc is truthfully in their militaristic and slightly masculine pieces. Wow! I have my eye on the Madeline Mini Dress. Camilla and Marc can be purchsed from net-a-porter.com, revolveclothing.com and elizabeth-charles.com.
