Paris Fashion Week: Collection Covet - Balmain Spring 2009

Balmain - spring 2009

Oh my gosh...it's love at first sight for this fashionista. Balmain's Spring 2009 Collection is everything I want, and more. Christopher Decarnin has done such an amazing job mixing rock-n-roll chic with modern luxury.

I'm...craving...every...single...piece!

From the acid wash skinny jeans, to the high-waisted and wearable pencil skirts, Decarnin stepped up to the fashion plate and hit a homerun for his Spring 2009 Collection! Check out some of the gorgeous gowns below, too!

Now, mark my words, many a starlet will be ordering these stunners for their upcoming soirees. Though I'm more drawn towards the short and sweet, the very impressive backside trains on the bottom set of gowns is an excellent way to kick the glamour factor up a notch! Are you loving the Collection? Hope so! Enjoy.

Milan Fashion Week: Fashion Risktaker - MaxMara's 'Clogs & Suits'

MaxMara - Clogs and Suits - Spring 2009

Ok, this is just strange! MaxMara's Spring 2009 Collection has been literally trashed by fashion critics. Known for their supremely comfortable business suits, timeless coats and impeccable Italian tailoring...MaxMara just missed the mark with this Spring Collection. One thing that ultimately caught my attention was MaxMara's choice of footwear.

Clogs? I'm so confused! Would you ever wear clogs with a suit? Not I. Hmmmm...possibly during your commute, as there are some WAY comfy clogs out there for purchase. That's about as far as I can stretch this idea into realization. Functionality over fashion? Who ever heard of such a thing? I dare you to clog it up at work...a calculated risk I'm just not willing to take. Enjoy!

Milan Fashion Week: Spring 2009 - Striped Bottoms at Etro, Marni and D&G

Milan fashion week - striped bottoms

Milan Fashion Week is in full swing...wait, actually, it's winding down for the week's end. Today is the first time I've had a chance to post something on the gorgeous Collections that are sauntering down the Italian runways. There are so many amazing pieces...I think I might just have to do a Fantasy Shopping Sweepstakes to show you all the great looks from Milan in one single post! For now, I couldn't help but notice all the striped bottoms, thus far. Seen at Etro, Marni and D&G...stripes ruled the 'bottom half' of the runway and are sure to make a Spring statement.

Stripes are certainly hard to pull off, especially if they are in the horizontal family, but we've chatted about them before (Here and Here and Here and Here) so you already have some great pointers in that area! These striped pieces are a great investment; sweaters, adorable cardigans and eye-catching scarfs. Pump your stripe wearing obsession up a notch and sport a striped bottom this Fall/Winter and into Spring! You just might be the first! Enjoy!

BOTB - Belle of the Ball: Best Dressed at the 2008 Emmys

Belle of the ball - emmys 2008

So, just as I promised...I deliver! Here is RD's Best Dressed lineup from Sunday night's Emmy Awards Show. Taking the Golden Star of Beauty is Olivia Wilde in Reem Acra. As soon as I saw Wilde, I gasped at her beauty and then was stunned at not only her teenie, tiny waistline in that gorgeous gown...but I also love the color and her hair and her elegance and that SWEETHEART neckline..oh yes, I could go on and on! I hope you find Wilde as well deserved as I did...just a classy princess!

The other stunners were Evangeline Lilly in her Elie Saab gown. Love the color, love the shimmer, love her hair and accessories (drop earrings). Emilie de Ravin didn't make many Best Dressed Lists but I don't really care. I love this look! Not only is her Matthew Williamson frock just looking so much more comfortable than many of the other gowns, but the color nearly matches her gorgeous blue eyes. Yep, BLUE was a red-carpet common during this year's Emmy Show but Ravin pulled out all the stops with this look. Ladylike, great movement and stellar color choice...Ravin caught my eye for sure!

Brooke Shields also looked ravishing in her fuschia pink Badgley Mischka gown. Though I polled RD Hubby for his likes/dislikes, he put this look down firmly and quickly in his NO pile! I digress. I'll have to go against the family on this one! Shields pretty much looks GREAT in everything, but I do love this choice. The addition of her BROOCH, killer clutch and massive earrings all boost the glam level up a notch and I'd totally feel regal in this ensemble.

Last, but not least, we have another BLUE lover, that was also previously shown, but I just can't leave this gorgeousness off my Top 5! Christina Applegate in Reem Acra (woo hoo, go Reem Acra - two gowns in my Top 5) was such a 'chance' gown but she pulled it off with grace and elegance. Not to mention, her recent bout with breast cancer but Applegate was all shimmers and shine at the Emmys. Congrats to all five gorgeous gals as you made my Emmy watching that much better!

Reader Fave/Rave: Tiffany S Needs New Gold Hoops

(Click Thumbnails to be Directed to ShopStyle for Info & to BUY!)

Earrings are a hot topic, lately! I just mentioned the awesome and HUGE Chandelier earrings at Zac Posen (HERE) and now I have a reader rave that has to do with ear adornments, too. Tiffany S recently shot me an email and said she was having trouble finding the perfect X-large gold hoops. Well, fear not sweet reader from the Big Apple, Runway Daily has you covered!

We told all readers, back in January, that Gold Hoops are one of the Top Five Timeless Wardrobe Accessories that every woman should own (check it out and learn the other four, HERE). I know that I have a simple pair of hammered gold hoops that are about 1 1/2" in diameter and they get some serious rotation in my weekly jewelry lineup. Sincerely hoping the above choices give you some fresh ideas, Miss Tiffany! Also, maybe this will inspire some other readers to add a pair of classic Gold Hoops into their Fall Wardrobe asap! Enjoy!

London Fashion Week: Erdem - Spring 2009 - Watercolor Wonders

Watercolor Wonders at Erdem - Spring 2009

Erdem Moralioglu stated backstage, "I've got all these images of seventies theater productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream...I just wanted something soft and hyper-romantic, easy but a bit surreal at the same time." And wow...did he ever deliver! Erdem's Spring Collection is one of my favorite, so far.

Pretty, lady-like, whimsical and delicate are words I'd use to describe the complete Collection. Although it was the breathtaking watercolor prints that really caught my eye. Featured above, these gorgeous prints are exactly what I'd want to galavant around in, all Spring/Summer long. Maybe watercolor will be the new 'it' print, taking the place of IKAT and ART INSPIRED pieces from last season! I guess we'll just have to wait and see...but until then, enjoy!

Personal Peek: RunwayDaily is the New Host of "That Media Show"

Ahhhh...I just couldn't resist sharing! Ok, so in addition to my complete obsession with fashion, yours truly is actually a Professional Model/Actress here in San Francisco. I recently got casted to be the new host of That Media Show...can I get a "Woo Hoo?" There were literally hundreds of applicants! A pretty exciting phone call, I must say!

So the first "RunwayDaily" hosted (aka - Morgan Cullen hosted) episode is online for your viewing pleasure! Now, why in the world did I deem this even necessary to show you? First of all, at the very end during the out-takes/bloopers (hilarious)...you'll see that RunwayDaily.com is mentioned, under my name, in all it's GLORY!!! (about 7:45 in) Go RunwayDaily and it's exposure via my new hosting gig! And P to the S - my other reason for mentioning...remind me to NEVER wear MUSTARD when I'm this pale, again! Ha!

I'll be shooting a new episode every week...so do feel free to check back in with That Media Show from time to time! Enjoy and please share the show with others that love to keep up with special media effects in movies! Cheers for an exciting Friday!

Designer Chitchat: Amanda K Lockrow Jewelry

Amanda k lockrow - vote necklace

Are you in love yet? I am! Amanda K Lockrow Jewelry is supremely stylish, sophisticated and fun! Can't you just see numerous celebs sporting these groovy charm around their necks, especially in the next coming months? Lockrow's Vote Pendant Necklace is a killer, statement-making choice for that drool-worthy Fall Accessory you're on the hunt for...hint hint: PENDANTS were one of RD's Top Ten for Fall!

Glancing through more of her hand-made goods, I also fell in love with these other four pieces. The Anchors Away Ring might just be added to my massive growing assortment of chunky rings! And the Sublime Stackers are a fun way to mark big milestones...one by one! I got a chance to recently e-chat with Amanda and found out some fun facts about her Collection...read below:

RD - Why a VOTE Necklace? Inspiration?
AKL - I made it as a reminder to everyone including myself to voice their choice this November. I think too many people take for granted their right to vote in America and don't go to the polls. So I wanted to make a fun and very wearable necklace to remind the wearer and those who see it to VOTE. I wear an Obama button on my bag, but I thought a cute necklace would be a great accessory.

RD - WHO would you love to see sporting it?
AKL - I want to see everyone sporting it. Teachers, business women, working women, college students, musicians, celebrities, we all need to vote. I would love if Scarlett Johansson or Gwen Stefani wore one.

RD - WHAT made you get into jewelry design?
AKL - I took an elective in college in metalsmithing and was hooked. It's been my passion every since.

RD - WHICH piece is your fave from your entire gorgeous Collection?
AKL - Peaceful Moments Necklace is my favorite right now. (Featured above, bottom right)

Thanks so much Amanda for your time and gorgeously creative pieces. Find more of Lockrow's amazing pieces on Etsy.com - HERE! Also, a shout out to the always fabulous, Seeking Designers, for sponsoring today's Designer Chitchat...thanks and enjoy!

London Fashion Week: Paul Smith Women - Spring 2009 - Scarf Belts

Scarf belts at paul smith women - spring 2009

Yippee, an item that can easily move from your Fall/Winter wardrobe and transition into Spring...just worn in a fresh new way! Many of you know my mega love for SCARVES. I probably own nearly 30 (ridiculous, I know). A BUFFALO PLAID scarf of mine is worn on a weekly basis and very similar to those seen around the waists of numerous models on Paul Smith's runway show, above.

How excited am I to use my scarf as another accessory and not just to merely keep my neck warm. I'm on the look-out for a grey striped scarf, so it might make a killer belt option too. Kudos to Paul Smith for stepping outside the box...but we have to hand it to Gucci's Fall 2008 Collection (highlighted HERE) as this boho and laid-back feel was seen there, first! Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week: Zac Posen - Spring 2009 - Oversized Chandelier Earrings

Chandelier earrings at zac posen

I have to admit, I love some big and huge earrings. There's just something so "Dolly" about them that takes me back to my Southern roots. They're a tad bit funky boho too! Yep, I'm a sucker for BIG accessories in general, hence why I was all giggles when breezing through Zac Posen's Spring 2009 Collection and noticing the resurrection of massive Chandelier Earrings.

Maybe I just have 'chandelier' on the brain...RD Hubby and I are searching for the perfect vintage one for our living room. But for $25 or less, via my speedy-savvy-stylin' below, you can nab yourself the perfect, oversized Chandelier earrings. Fun and flirty, big and loud...make a statement with your lobes, come Springtime! Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week: Diane von Furstenberg - Video and Runway

DvF - Harem Pants

DvF - short and shiny minis

DvF - White Hot

DvF - flowing and floral

"Goddess and Rockstars" - I must say, Diane von Furstenberg has managed to impress me for yet another season. Just look at the four hot categories I pulled from the Collection in nearly T-minus 2 seconds. I'm loving the harem pant trend and plan to grab a pair, asap. Flowing and floral is HERE TO STAY, yet another season so cheers from this flower wearin' lady. White's were rampant and looking fresher than ever but my fave addition to DvF's Collection came in the form of her short and sweet sequin minis. So flirty and fun, that are intoxicating and sure to be a hit for socialites this coming Spring.

Enjoy it all and don't forget to check out the video, too. Once again, the Ford girls are adorable and showing us a behind-the-scenes peek pre-DvF show. Enjoy...RD Hubby and I are off to Napa for the day to meet my visiting Aunt and Uncle, we'll be sure to cheers one for you! Woo woo...

Personal Peek: Silver Retainer Necklace by Kiel Mead

Silver retainer necklace

So this girl just got her newest edition of Domino in the mail and much to my surprise, their Senior Marketing editor chose this Silver Retainer Necklace for her Middle School Nostalgia cravings section. Well, I know you are thinking, 'RunwayDaily, I'd never wear this and it's really ugly!' My thoughts exactly but I have to tell you a hilariously personal story that makes this Statement Pendant perfect for this here, fashionista.

Back in my girl scouting years (aka - 10 years old), I was such the little diva who took so much pride in wearing the newest style and making SURE all the friend followed suit. Guess Jeans, Bright White Keds, Slouch Socks, Hypercolor Shirts...yeah, I couldn't be stopped! The one 'fashion trend' (or so it was in my eyes) and I just couldn't have was...yep, you guessed it, a retainer. All my cool friends got to take it out during lunch and I just had this overwhelming urge to have one too! Well, great dental genes aside, this girl did NOT need braces so there was NO RETAINER in my near future. So, smarty pants that I am, I decided to take matters into my own hands and crafted my own retainer...out of a paper clip.

Enter the drama - at Girl Scout meeting, my friend made me laugh and BAM, retainer gets lodged in dorky RunwayDaily's throat! WHO does that? Ummm, I do. Girl Scout Leader races to the craft table and performs the ever-faithful Heimlich Maneuver on me and I'm fine...but scary, none the less! So, this is the reason, my lovely readers, that I about screamed when I saw this necklace. You better believe, R.D. Hubby and I had a good laugh at this one. My birthday's coming up and I hope he doesn't think I actually 'want' it...I'll be sure to make that clear, pronto! Hop you enjoy a bit of RD insight for a funny Friday antic! (PS - shall you be the creative lady that can pull this off, click HERE to purchase.)

Gladiators on the spring runway

I've got a another NEW category for you! Here to Stay is a great way for me to let you know those trendy items that are on the Runway, yet again. Deeming them no longer just a seasonal trend, but something worth investing in. This go-round, gladiator sandals have already flooded the New York Fashion Week Spring 2009 Runways. I had to limit myself to only nine looks...as there were so many to choose from, even though Fashion Week has three other massive markets to go (London, Paris and Milan).

There are some ridiculously fabulous deals to be had on crazy/classic gladiator styles. Check out my speedy-savvy-stylin' below (all on sale) and be sure to grab a pair on sale this Fall/Winter...you'll be all set in style, next Spring...and come on, you'll have me to thank, right? Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week: Kirsten Dunst for Boy by Band of Outsiders - Spring 2009

Kirsten Dunst for Boy by Band of Outsiders

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Kiki, but she looks pretty adorable in these shots...agreed? Scott Sternberg of Boy by Band of Outsiders recently cast Kirsten as his lookbook model, captivating results above. Dunst was also the star of his film installation that he had running while fans rummaged through racks of drool-worthy pieces. That was HIS idea of the perfect Fashion Week show. I concur, because even though it seems like such an 'un'-grand scale...remind you, he had, in his book, one of the highest paid movie actresses sporting his line with complete joy and pride. Seriously, what's bigger than that? I give kudos and medals of creativity and Sternberg's awarded a big one, from yours truly! Love it and adore the adventure, laughter and style that Dunst brought to life in her Boy by Band of Outsiders ensembles!

New York Fashion Week: Spring 2009 - The 'Non Bashful' Bandeau

Bandeaus on the Spring 2009 Runway

I told you there would be MORE to come...and I'm following through on my word(s). Spring 2009 New York Fashion Week officially kicked off two days ago and I'm already knee deep in numerous Runway Shows. I couldn't help but notice the Bandeau trend even after only 2 days of shows. Five designers showed looks incorporating the oft-worn bathing suit top that I personally love to sport because it leaves behind NO pesky tan lines. My décolletage and shoulders glisten gold after a day at the beach wearing my bandeau.

As R.D. Hub and I are enjoying the Indian Summer that San Franciscans so joyously talk about all year long, I just might have to mix in my bandeau and jumper for a Spring-worthy ensemble, in late Summer! Enjoy...and get ready, with all the Spring 2009 updates I have in store for you, you'll be wishing Spring was already here!
