What to Buy Now: Bright Colored Woven Leather Bags à la Bottega Veneta Spring 2009

Bottega veneta bags for spring

Bottega Veneta's bag collection in always synonymous with woven leather. Hey...but if it ain't broke! They have a good thing going, that's for sure...so why would they ever stop! I've always lusted after a woven leather goodie from this design house, but it's just not in the shopping budget at the moment. Sales and lower priced options are what I'm after!

I've added some speedy-savvy-stylin' below that incorporates the highest priced woven stunnahs along with those that are much more affordable. No matter what, woven always reminds me of a big, beach-ready bag. No, I wont be dragging my leather to the beach...but the spring/summer hues along with the woven texture entices me to travel to islands far, far away!

Muse of the Moment: Olivia Palermo from The City

Olivia

Ahhhhhh...you already know how much I love The Hills so I must admit MTV's newest 'Whitney Port' spinoff, The City, has garnered my adoration for sure! My love/hate relationship with Olivia Palermo is in full-swing. She's such the diva (witch with a B, much?) on the show but you must admit, the lady has a covetable wardrobe for sure.

Ladylike ruffles, bright colors and impeccable BLACK & WHITE, Miss Palermo isn't afraid to mix it up and try something new for all her red-carpet affairs. Maybe you're wondering what to wear out this weekend for your girls night...well, do click the assortment above. You're sure to find some sort of inspiration from Olivia's supremely put-together style. Enjoy!

Outfit Inspiration: Beach Day and Date Night Ensembles à la Layered Mountain Sunset by Chris Kayler

Photo

Day at the Beach and Into the Night
(Click for More Info and Where to BUY!)

My love for a good sunset is quite near the level of obsession. I've loved them forever and growing up on the east coast of Florida had me only enjoying a rising sun over the ocean on a few occasions. So, you know it...the last year living in San Francisco has me enjoying the Pacific setting sun on a weekly basis. I stumbled upon CHRIS KAYLER'S PHOTOGRAPHY BLOG and immediately fell in love with this image captured in Shenandoah National Park.

No, it's no beach sunset...but it's beyond captivating. Using these colors as a palette guide, I've put together two great ensembles. It's been unusually warm (yes, I'm beyond thankful) so I've actually enjoyed getting a bit of a tan at the beach. And doesn't that tunic look just like the Gucci Fall 2008 Paisley? Love it! The second ensemble inspires me to wear brighter colors in the new year! Enjoy!

Fab Winter Fash: Stars in Black, White and Black & White

Celebs in black and white

Celebs in black and white - 2

Black or white...black & white...doesn't get much easier than that, right? But there are some times when I'm literally staring at myself in the mirror and not able to figure out how to make black & white work for me. It seems like the easiest combo ever and fairly simple to accessorize...wrong! Honestly I have my issues with some B&W goodness, every once in a while, so this post is in hopes of helping my glorious readers that have the same mirror 'stalemate.'

One of my New Year's resolutions is to wear less black (I absolutely LOVE it) and more color. But RD Hubby loves black so I tend to work it in my rotation quite frequently...not to mention, slimming much?  Speaking of RD Hubby, I asked him to spot his top fave in each collage above...he handed out the Gold Stars of Style to Kate Hudson in black (three letters: h-o-t) and Nicole Richie in oh so ethereal white. Honestly, these are both looks that I could 100% see myself in, so I love that we're on the same page here at the RD household. Enjoy and get to sportin' some black and white or black or white (whateva - such a mouth full) pronto!

Fashion Week Frenzy: Rush of Blush for Spring 2009

Blush rush on the spring runway

I love to wear blush and boy, has it been reinvented as a go-to makeup application for Spring on the 2009 runways. But, makeup artists weren't the only ones crazy for some blush...numerous designers (too many to count) showed incredible looks including blush-like shades. Delicate and whimsical for spring...yep, you guessed it, lady-like too. Pair your blush with a motorcycle jacket to toughen it up or with crisp Summer white, before it becomes overly trendy. One things true, in a sea of black and grey...a blush colored winter coat would turn some heads! Enjoy!

Personal Peek: RunwayDaily Debates What to Wear to YSL Exhibition at the SF de Young Museum

Going to see YSL Exhibition

(Click for Items for More Info and Where to BUY!)

I've been cordially invited by one of my most fashionable friends to join her and check out the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition at the de Young Museum, right here in San Francisco, today. As stated on their site, "This exhibition contains nearly 130 accessorized garments and sketches illustrating the lines, colors, and fundamentals of Saint Laurent’s work." I'm truly giddy with excitement and am really not sure about what to wear.

Attempting to stay inside the parameters of what truly made YSL famous, (ie: Le Smoking" Tuxedo jacket, See-through blouses, Peasant blouses, Bolero jackets, Pantsuits) I've put together three potential ensembles to rock out during my ladies afternoon in style (I can assure you that Zola Belle and RD Hub will be glued to the football watching couch). I'm never one to plan ahead too often, but such a special occasion deserves great attention to detail. Naturally, I'll post about my adventure later and then you'll see my final decision! Enjoy!

BOTB - Belle of the Ball: Best Dressed at the Critics' Choice Awards - Eva Longoria, Taraji P. Henson, Elizabeth Banks, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz

Best dressed at critics choice awards

So award season is officially upon us. Yesterday was the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS and today we have the Critics' Choice Awards Belle of the Ball. Elizabeth Banks was today's winner in her stunning ensemble! Moving from the bottom up, how about her wrapped chain ANKLE CUFF sandals? Drool-worthy for sure, they are a sight for sore eyes amongst a sea of classic pumps. How sexy are they? Love them. Not to mention her yellow satin deep v-cut Reem Acra gown and ladylike Jimmy Choo clutch (so versatile). The hair, the makeup...très chic, indeed!

Rounding out the top five, we have Eva Longoria in a TURQUOISE Monique Lhuillier gown and nude heels, AGAIN, let the gown get all the attention. Taraji looks gorgeous in her soft gold mini-gown. Her skin glistens and the actress from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has me curious as to who the designer is...any takers?

Up next, Angelina Jolie...always the long, etheral, sexy goddess gown wearer, she looked the part of royalty in her assymetrical Max Azria silver-hued gloriousness. Capping it off with a Hervé Léger by Max Azria clutch and Stuart Weitzman heels, this leading lady has won over numerous fashion critics this morning. Last, but certainly not least, Penelope Cruz wears one of my favorite shades of blue in her sapphire Yves St. Laurent form-fitting gown. Speaking of YSL...stay tuned! I'll soon get a peek at more from this designer, up close! Vote for your favorite below and enjoy!

BOTB - Belle of the Ball: Best Dressed at the People's Choice Awards - Debra Messing, Olivia Wilde, Marisa Tomei, Katherine Heigl and Jessica Stroup

Best dressed at peoples choice

Are you surprised at my choice for Best Dressed at the People's Choice Awards last night? Well, Jessica Stroup was right on Marisa Tomei's nude heels, in my book...but Tomei's simplicity and elegance won out in the long run! Her red strapless Donna Karan stunner paired with non-competing nude heels and clutch let the dress really shine. The icing on the cake...that drool-worthy teardrop STATEMENT necklace that I'm more than positive garnered some serious compliments and questions throughout the night.

As stated before, my second pick would have to be Miss Jessica Stroup in her multi-colored, floral Hervé Léger bandage dress. Golf claps go to Katherine Heigl for NOT wearing a dress and looking surpremly elegant in her Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit. Rounding out the top five Belles of the Ball are Debra Messing in Donna Karan (nude heels again) and Olivia Wilde looking ethereal in her long white gown. Take notice of Olivia sporting the same dazzling cuff on each wrist...yep, we've mentioned that look HERE. Would you have handed the Gold Star of Style to any of the other likely contenders? Vote below and enjoy!
