Currently Craving: A-list Accessories for Spring - Yellow Bags and Shoes

Naomi Watts, in Chanel - bright yellow heels

Naomi Watts in Chanel is such a gorgeous site. We can't help but totally drool over her sassy yellow satin heels. We're in the market for a bright pair of yellow heels and we think her version is tres chic!

Sophie Auster, in Chanel - bright yellow bag

Sophie Auster's ensemble is spring chic to a T. We obviously adore her canary yellow Chanel bag but we sadly can't afford that price tag. We think a yellow bag is a great way to treat yourself and ring in spring, in style.

Check out these amazing goodies below. We've spent quite a bit of time rounding up the best yellow bags and shoes all over the internet. We love so many options and find that some of the picks under $50 are our favorite. We're on the search for adding both a yellow bag and a sweet pair of yellow wedges to our spring wardrobe. Do you have either of these items already? I'm sure you love it/them and don them all spring and summer long. It's such a great way to cheer up your dressing, any day!

Field Trip: Must See - Bill Cunningham New York

Ahhhhh, we can't wait to see this and we literally just found out about. In love in an instant, for sure! Do we live under a rock? Nope! But I'm super happy I have an on-trend sister who keeps me up to date on such noteworthy upcoming experiences. Hubby and I just watched the trailer for Bill Cunningham New York and both agree this is a must-see documentary when it arrives in Austin theaters on May 20th. Here's a snippet about why Bill Cunningham is worthy of all this praise and attention:

The “Bill” in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns “On the Street” and “Evening Hours.” Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham’s enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

Cunningham is an amazing image creator. Click HERE to see a great video narrated by Cunningham about spring's top coat, the trench. Click HERE to learn more about his background and how he got where he is now, which includes dropping out of Harvard, early on. Literally, I'm giddy with excitement about this movie. Loved the September Issue but dare I say, this might trump it. So what do you say, are you heading out to catch this flick too?

RunwayDaily Giveaway: Daily Deal Code - Win $30 Worth of Solid Perfume from Baroque Bath & Body

Baroque Bath & Body giveaway on RunwayDaily

You know we love a good giveaway so when Baroque Bath & Body recently contacted us, we were so excited to share their generosity with our readers. We love Baroque's products and think solid perfume is one of those go-to essentials that every lady should have. Baroque's massive list of intoxicating scents will surely have you smiling from ear to ear.

Guess what, this giveaway isn't just for one lucky reader...THREE LUCKY READERS will win five solid perfumes (valued at $30) of their picking! Want to know one of our favorite things about Baroque? Here's the list: All natural base, paraben-free, no chemicals, no preservatives and never tested on animals. Baroque only uses the good stuff...because you should always smell lovely. Now that's something to smile about!

How to Enter:

1. Become a fan of RunwayDaily on Facebook HERE

2. Become a fan of Baroque on Facebook HERE

3. Leave a below comment saying, "Here I am...Baroque(d) you like a hurricane!" (I'm well aware of the fact that I'm a massive dork, thanks!)

This contest is only open to residents of the United States and remember to provide a real working email address when you leave a comment...it's my only way to get in touch with you and tell you that you're the winner! The contest will close promptly on Tuesday, May 3rd at 10am EST. We'll announce the winner (chose via Random.org) shortly thereafter...best of luck, Baroque lovers!

Also, maybe you've spied something else over on the Baroque site that you just have to get your chops on (uh humm, how about those perfume oils or shea butter soaps) in addition to the solid perfume sticks...we've got another treat for you. Use code RUNWAYDAILY for 20% off all orders until May 1st! People, we're talking Mother's Day gifts and Easter basket treats! Hurry up, get those orders in, lovelies! This code can be used on the Baroque site HERE and the Etsy site HERE.

Psst - I'd be remiss not to mention how Miss Sarah got into solid perfume creation. Here's the amazing story:

Sarah Johnson created Baroque Bath & Body because of her frustrations traveling with liquid perfume. She knew two things. 1) She hated to smell plain and boring while traveling. 2) It wasn’t practical to include an entire bottle of perfume in her quart-sized bag for liquid carry-ons. She decided to get to work on a travel friendly solid perfume that would not only be efficient for the airport, but also to throw in a purse or gym bag for fragrant touch ups throughout the day.

Baroque Bath & Body was born, a slender and elegant tube that makes it possible to dab deliciousness on your wrists, neck, or cleavage without sticky fingers or goo stuck under your nails. Baroque is now expanding to include more travel-friendly bath & body goodies for your convenience. Even if you don't travel, they are great to throw in your bag and go!

Thanks to Sarah over at Baroque for sponsoring such a generous giveaway. We can't wait to hear how much our three lucky duck readers enjoy their solid perfume sticks all spring/summer long!

Currently Craving: Under $100 - Top Ten Flat Sandals for Spring

It's totally time to bust out those pasty white piggies and start donning those statement making sandals. Spring is the perfect time to purchase a new pair and start breaking them in. They'll be your favorite byt the time those scorching hot summer temps roll around. We admit, $100 is a lot to drop on a pair of flat sandals, but we can't believe how much wear we actually get out of ours every year.

Why flat? Because I want to trek all over town in these puppies! I want to don them with dresses, cutoffs, long maxis and plaid shorts. I want them to be versatile...dress up and dress down. Plus, the older I get the more likely it is you'll see me in flats and not heels. Don't get me wrong, I love a good pair of heels but at this stage in the game, this chica is all about comfort. So today we've scoured the internet and hand picked the top 10 'wear with everything' flat sandals for your spring/summer fashion ensembles.

Personal Peek: Donating My Hair - The New Haircut

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 1

It's truthfully surreal looking back at ALL THAT HAIR now. Did you guys know that it was giving me headaches and neck pain? Yeah, horrible neck pain and I was so over my long hair that I nearly took scissors to it one afternoon. That's when I knew it was time to a) book a salon visit and b) donate that junk, ha! But in all seriousness, I'm blessed to have hair that grows pretty fast so naturally the cycle of growing out and cutting starts all over again, now.

So you voted HERE and told me what style you thought suited me best (thanks for all the wonderful comments and votes) and I heeded your suggestions! So I finally caved and purchased a Groupon offer (are you on Groupon yet? If not, click HERE to sign up because it's amazing and you'll never pay full price again) for a $90 cut at half off...cha-ching! Right when I stepped into Elan Hair Salon, the whole place just gave me this really warm feeling.

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 2

There's one more before pic for ya!

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 3

I totally told my stylist, the wonderful Terry Curry, that this was absolutely a possibility for a runway hair. Just imagining all the top teased and tousled and this funny lil' rat tail braid in the back. Yep, I could totally see this on Marc Jacobs catwalk. Oh and about that rat tail mention...RWD Hubby used to totally want one when he was younger, how hilarious is that?

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 4

CHOPPED! I actually told Terry that I'd be happy to walk out of the salon with my hair just the way it is, right here, with the ponytail bluntly chopped off. It felt so freeing, so light...I just wanted to swish my head and hair back and forth, back and forth. Any other long hair lovers out there who have opted for a shorter 'do totally know what I'm talking about!

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 5

Zah braid.

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 6

There's cute lil' Terry, doin' her dang thang, ha! This was called 'texturizing' and I'm glad she did it because I couldn't even keep up with how fast her hands were moving. Terry has been a stylist for over 25 years so if you're looking for someone in Austin who knows hair, face shape, etc...go see Terry at Elan. Make sure to tell her I sent you, k?

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 7

Terry was amazing and styled my hair two different ways and showed me, step-by-step, how to get each look. This look was accomplished with a round brush and flat iron and RWD Hubby loves it!

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 9

Then it was back in the seat for me as Terry wrapped individuals sections of my hair around a medium barreled curling iron and spritzed the curls with setting spray. When she was all done, she lightly ran her fingers through some of the curls giving my hair a more tousled look...that's much more my style!

IMG_1710

Here's my iPhone hand-held shot! Love those chitty chitty bang bangs!

Personal Peek - Donating my Hair - haircut 11

Of course RWD Hubby had to get in on the action...silly boy!

   My new haircut

And here's my first attempt at styling the 'do all by myself. Not too shabby, but definitely not nearly as great as Terry's options above. How come every time you leave the salon your hair never looks that good again? I think they sprinkle magical fairy hair dust on you and send you on your way...secretly knowing the dust wears out in 24, ha!

How i wore it in san antonio

Oh and remember, it was our 5th anniversary last weekend so we headed to San Antonio to celebrate. Naturally, I'll do a Personal Peek post of our trip (and eats...oh our delicious eats) over on CasaCullen in the next week, but I just had to give our RWD readers this sneak peek at my new 'do all over San Antonio. I really tried to style it in a few different ways but I'm also totally digging the length while donning a fun spring hat. Hope you enjoy and we'll be back to our regularly scheduled fashion/beauty programming tomorrow!

Personal Peek: Looking Back - Our Wedding Day

Looking Back - Our Wedding Day - 2

Looking Back - Our Wedding Day - 3

"The best marriages are those where each partner tries to outgive the other." - Beckett Quay Waddell

That gorgeous and amazing quote is from my paternal grandfather, one of the most amazing men that ever lived. So today is our 5th anniversary and I can hardly believe it. Five years ago, hundreds of people put their lives aside to stand there with us as we professed our love (ok, not really, we just repeated the vows) at the church I grew up in. Then we all danced our buns off in celebration at McKee Botanical Gardens. And yep, that's totally us on their website!

So many amazing things happened during our wedding day...it's still one of our favorite days of our lives. Thank you to all of our amazing wedding party people...my bridesmaids were spectacular and so giving of their time and Walt's groomsman (all family) were the icing on the cake. Surrounded by very special people, both families came together and helped in the preparation and later bid us adieu as we took off for two weeks on an Italian honeymoon.

After five years of marriage, I can honestly say, it hasn't all been peaches and cream. We've had some really tough times and some huge storms we've had to weather, together. But I've married the man that's always up for 'talking through it' and hearing me out. He's a listening ear whenever I need it and a big hug at the end of every day.

We really, really try to never go to bed angry and always kiss before we say goodnight, NO MATTER WHAT! We also sit down every three months for our 'quarterly convos' to chat about how we think our marriage is going and where we want it to go. Actually, I'm thinking that might be a really good future post over on CasaCullen...remind me!

But back to the post at hand, I just wanted to re-live and share some of my favorite captured moments too. I'm not going to caption anything, I just wanted to share my hand-picked images that I absolutely love. None of these images are from our professional photographer (who, sorry to say, completely stunk...she did, not her pics, they were actually great) but these are actually all taken by our attendees. Yeah, we obviously had some serious talent in attendance.

Again, we're so thankful for EVERYONE that joined us on April 8th, 2006. A special, wonderful, magical and memorable day...indeed! Enjoy the pictures and here's to many, many more years of marriage and relational growth.

PS - This is CC Hubby's favorite picture ever, above. He even has it printed out and in his wallet. What a cutie, huh? Also, just so I don't have to answer this in the comment section...that is absolutely an earring in his ear. I love(d) it but since we've moved to Texas, he's actually taken it out. I totally think it's sexy and hope he puts it back in, one day. Hugs!

We are totally digging the combo of leather and floral and these supremely on-trend bags capture that combo perfectly! They sort of lend the same feeling as Gucci's tapestry collection HERE but come in at a much more affordable price point. Every bag in this post is under $100 which is the perfect price for that uplifting spring piece. I'm going to hint at Hubby for one of these for our upcoming anniversary (yep, five years) and if he already has something up his sleeve (which he usually does) then I'll just splurge on one for myself. Shop the huge hand-selected pieces below. Aren't they all just adorable? Love, love them!

What to Buy Now: TOMS and Make Sure to Support Their 'One Day Without Shoes' Campaign on April 5, 2011

Yeah, that just gave me chills! It's totally surreal to imagine that people all over this world don't have shoes. They have to walk for miles for food and water. Umm, we can walk right across our house in over a dozen pairs of shoes from a closet for running water that pumps right out of the refrigerator door and easily nosh on a food stocked fridge. It just makes you think, doesn't it?

I'd be a bit silly to ask if you've even heard of TOMS Shoes but I also don't want to be assumptive. I own the first two pairs featured below and love, love them. Hubby got me the burlap pair for Valentine's Day 2011 (pic HERE) and I just ordered the grey stone-washed beauts recently. They'll be my shoe of choice for spring. Yeah, I know TOMS aren't making any huge fashion statement or they aren't gracing the catwalks of huge designers (yet) but they are making a statement witih what they stand for. Head over to TOMS right HERE and check out what this amazing company is all about.

Most importantly, if TOMS is something you're just becoming aware of, please know this amazing snippet (below) and this is surely why I'm not asking you to buy a pair...I'm TELLING YOU to buy a pair! I've hand picked some of my favorite selections below and the reason I actually love both of my pairs is because, aesthetically, I chose the non-white bottom choices. I know I'll wear them ragged but the darker colored soles will stay a wee-bit cleaner than the stark white versions. But I'm so eye balling the yellow and red pairs...they're suh-weet! Hmmm, maybe for summer!

TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about. The TOMS mission transforms our customers into benefactors, which allows us to grow a truly sustainable business rather than depending on fundraising for support.

PS - I will also be going barefoot for most of the day on April 5th. I coach soccer to area pre-schoolers so I won't be able to do that barefooted (for liability reasons) but I will be barefoot for the entire day. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I'm rarely barefoot, so this is HUGE for me! Are you going to join me? Please say YES!
